If there's one incredible time to visit New York City, it's during the spring! Everything is in bloom, and the weather is finally nice enough for a walk! So, where better to visit than Central Park!? If you don't know where to start, no problem! I listed the top five best places for you to check out now that everything is available to explore!
5. Sheep's Meadow and the Great Lawn
Who doesn't love lying in the grass in the springtime? Sheep's Meadow and the Great Lawn are two of the biggest lawns in Central Park and are perfect for spreading out a picnic blanket and soaking up the sun! You could bring a football and play catch, bring food and have a picnic or just sit and relax! There are so many things to do when you have an entire field at your disposal! And, with so many other people around you enjoying the same thing, it becomes an experience in itself. So get to know those around you, because who knows what friends you could make. So definitely check at least one of these destinations out. You won't be disappointed!
4. Shakespeare Garden
If you love Shakespeare, flowers or both then this destination is definitely for you! The Shakespeare Garden is absolutely full of all different types of flora and is easily one of the prettiest spring destinations in Central Park. It's quiet, calm and just steps away from the famous Belvedere Castle. I love to find a secluded spot and study in the shade over there. It feels as if you are in another place entirely, completely separated from the rest of the park. The flowers smell absolutely wonderful, and it will really put you in the mood for spring!
3. The Conservatory Waters
If anyone has seen the movie "Stuart Little" and remembers that little sailboat race in Central Park, this is the same exact place! This little pond is home to all sorts of activities like toy-sail boating, watching the fish and turtles and enjoying the area with a bite to eat at the snack bar. The Hans Christian Andersen statue is right in the middle of the plaza, and there's story time on Saturday mornings if anyone is an early riser. Regardless of the time you arrive, this little pond is always soaked in sunlight and is a gem on the East Side. The "Alice in Wonderland" statue is nearby as well, so take a climb onto it and relax on a mushroom, because it's finally spring!
2. The Bethesda Fountain
When someone thinks of Central Park, the first image in mind would probably be the Bethesda Fountain. It is right in the center of the park right by the Mall, which has amazing street performers, vendors and plenty of benches to sit and soak up the sun. The fountain is right behind a huge lake where you can rent a boat and go for a ride, or you could listen to some of the incredible singers in the nearby tunnel! There are so many amazing things to try around the Bethesda fountain, so take a few hours and explore!
1. Belvedere Castle
Belvedere Castle has, by far, the greatest view of Central Park. And what is a better season to climb to the top than spring? First off, it's a tiny castle inside Central Park! Its architecture is absolutely amazing, and it resembles something built long before the park itself! And when you climb to the top, the view is incredible! Imagine seeing a sea of green trees and blossoming flowers with the gorgeous New York City skyscrapers in the distance. That is what you will see at Belvedere Castle. Spring and Fall are by far the best seasons to take a look, so enjoy the warm weather and the flowers while they last and take a climb!
