5 Human Rights That Are More Important Now Than Ever

In today's day and age, it's extremely important to focus on human rights. I mean, Trump is going to be our new President and if we want to get past these next 4 years, we have to all come together and fight for equality. December is National Human Rights month. Many people seem to forget that we are all born equal. Human rights are an important topic that we must pay attention to.

1. Marriage Equality

You would think that the world accepted the LGBTQ community by now. On June 26th, 2015 the US legalized gay marriage. It's been almost a year and a half and some of the world still won't accept it. Why can't some people accept the fact that we should be able to love whoever we chose?

2. Freedom of Religion

Muslim women are being warned not to wear their hijab's in public due to fear....... Need I explain anymore why we must fight for all humans to have the exact same equal rights?

3. Freedom of Speech

I am a living witness that no one has the freedom to say what they want. You are judged to hell and back for anything you say... That's a serious problem.

4. Protection

We aren't protected. No one is protected. We think we are, but we aren't. If we fight for anything, protection of all people should be the main one, especially after what is going on these last couple of years.

5. Freedom and Equality

All roads seem to lead back to the fact that we lack freedom and equality. We are judged when we express our love for something that may be the same sex as us. We can't practice certain religions or say what we want to say without having to live in fear. Not everyone gets the protection they need and it honestly sucks. It sucks knowing that no matter how hard we fight for human rights, everyone will never be seen as equal.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
