Although it has been a long time since I last wrote, I'm glad to be back and ready to kick off a new semester! Throughout my college career (which I can't believe I'm already almost halfway through), I've come upon a few websites that have served as great resources for me in those times when I was drowning in a pile of obligations, homework, and stress. Here are my five website recommendations that will save your grades in this new semester!
1. Chegg.com
Chegg.com is an excellent resource to turn to when you're panicking because you have none of your required textbooks for your new classes and the professors have already started assigning work! Chegg allows you to either rent, buy, or sell your textbooks online and offer a wide selection of e-textbooks for purchase. Additionally, if you order over $50 worth of textbooks, you automatically qualify for free shipping and can expect to get your books within two-three business days! Chegg offers online tutors and study resources for a small monthly fee if you are interested in having access to help 24/7 for your courses! Lastly, if you are looking for extra spending cash, you can apply your recently acquired knowledge and tutor other students on your own schedule. Lastly, if you are unChappy with your textbook purchases, you can ship your books back to Chegg for free and receive a refund.
2. Classpoint.com
Classpoint is a nifty schedule planning website that uploads your school's course catalog into the system (along with codes, teachers, reviews, and even information on which friends of yours are considering the same classes as you) into a simple interface. Information on the required textbooks for your planned classes, the ability to discuss with other students whether or not that professor is worth the trouble, and even the ability to post your own reviews of courses that you have taken...this website has it all! If you are still reeling from the loss of myedu.com, use this website to fill that gaping hole in your heart...and in your schedule.
3. Khan Academy
Khan Academy is an excellent resource that has won many accolades and is still rising in popularity. Featuring videos on all sorts of subjects, from organic chemistry to literature, Khan Academy's unqiue style of presenting important and difficult concepts in colorful, short videos will allow anyone to master ideas that they never thought they could. If office hours, notes, studying with friends, and tutoring are not enough help for you, utilize this website! For certain subjects, such as calculus, Khan Academy offers pratice questions that are both difficult and rewarding as you get points for getting multiple questions correct and can earn cute "trophy" badges as you learn.
4. Sleepyti.me
Sleepyti.me is an amazing bedtime calculator that works by using sleep cycles to determine when you should wake up to ensure that your REM sleep is not disturbed! I used this during my crazy fall semester and I ended up staying away from coffee in the mornings (except during finals week, for obvious reasons)! You can either input the time that you plan on waking up or put the current time into the calculator and it will tell you what the best times are for you to get to bed or to wake up, respectively. If you use one website from this list, I would personally recommend this.
5. Spotify.com
Although most college students and people in general already know about Spotify, I included it in this list because of its amazing features and offers for college students! Many of you already probably know about the discounts Spotify offers for Premium membership for college students, but that's not all Spotify can be used for. If you use Spotify on your laptop, you get the benefits of Premium membership without having to pay! Additionally, you can follow playlists for studying, relaxing, sleeping, and even collab with your new college friends to create your own playlists. This is an excellent resource to maintain a healthy balance between relaxation, fun, and studying in college!
