We all have fictional places that we wish we could live in or even visit, whether it be a fictional small town from a TV show where the whole town is our family, a school where we can learn magic, or even a place we can be young forever. When we watch these TV shows, movies, or even read these books, it is an escape mechanism from the setbacks of real life. Even though this places don't actually exist, we can still visit them in our minds every once in a while.

1. Bluebell from the TV show "The Hart of Dixie"

"The Hart of Dixie" is one of my favorite shows of all time. I binge-watched all four seasons on Netflix in about two weeks. When it ended, I almost cried because I honestly didn't know what to do with my life anymore. Not only did I fall in love with the characters (especially George and Wade), but also with with the charming, close-knit fictional town of Bluebell. In Bluebell everyone knows everyone, everyone supports everyone, and everyone loves everyone like their own family.

2. Narnia from "The Chronicles of Narnia"

Although many of you may know this land from the major motion picture, I first encountered this magical place in the novels by C.S. Lewis. We all wish we could walk through a wardrobe, or even a closet, and enter the magical world of Narnia. In this enchanting place you can escape reality, walk through the beautiful snow-covered forest and meet the friendly faun Mr. Tumnus, become royalty and befriend animals (and if we are lucky Prince Caspian will become more than our friend), and of course have a talking lion to guide us along the way.

3. Hogwarts of "Harry Potter"

Let's be honest, who wants to go to a normal middle school or high school when you've grown up reading about the magnificent wizardry in Hogwarts? Here you can learn magic spells, play a Human Chess Game, catch a golden snitch, fly on a broom, and the bonus is of course going on adventures and causing mischief with Harry, Ron, and Hermione.

4. Storybrooke from the TV show "Once Upon a Time"

Storybrooke isn't just any small town. It is a town where magical fairy-tale characters were cursed to live normal, boring lives of everyday human beings. Who wants to live anywhere else when your next-door neighbors could be Snow White and Prince Charming, or where the mayor could be the Evil Queen? Storybrooke is not only a small town where everyone knows everyone, and everyone is practically related, but where your story is intertwined with everyone else's, and the rest of the town will be there to help you fight evil.

5. Neverland from "Peter Pan"

"Peter Pan" was always one of my favorite Disney movies as a child, and I always dreamed of Peter Pan coming through my window and taking me away to Neverland. Not only will you never grow old or have any responsibilities, but you can have sword fights or pillage with pirates, swim with mermaids, swing in the trees with the Lost Boys, or even fly through the stars with Peter Pan himself. Neverland is a magical place where anyone can live in the moment and be young at heart.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
