Fashionably cozy with no effort? Yes, please!

Ah, fall! It's finally gotten cooler, and so it's time to break out the old fashion "tried-and-trues:" flannels, sweaters, boots...the list goes on.

However, you have to admit, there are some days that you want to be cozy but you want to put in minimal effort. This is college after all, and if you can be lazy and cute, then by all means, go ahead! It's substantially easier to be cozy when it's not 80 degrees out anymore, but if you're stuck, here are five outfit pieces that should get you inspired and into fall!

1. Joggers

Joggers are what I like to think of as the "skinny jeans of sweatpants." You still get the coziness of sweatpants, but you get a nice svelte shape that won't steal attention from your top or accessories.

To make this a little more fall friendly, you could layer a flannel shirt under your favorite jacket (leather would look absolutely bad*** with this combo). Add a tote, a scarf and booties, and you're ready for class, or even going out with the girls!

2. T-Shirt Dress

T-shirt dresses are handy in a pinch. You could wake up with five minutes to walk out the door, and you could throw one on, lace up your boots and be out and about in seconds!

Dresses in general are handy like that, but what I like about the t-shirt dress is how cozy and lax the silhouette usually is, so it feels like you're wearing an oversize sleep shirt (bonus points if you layer leggings or tights under for warmth/extra chic)!

Because this kind of dress is so simple, you can layer things over it to dress it up and make it your own! You could throw a dress shirt over it and make it internship ready, or grab your favorite hoodie for a study break at the coffee shop!

3. Blanket Scarves

Have you ever wanted an excuse to wear a blanket out of the house? With blanket scarves, you almost can! (Almost - it's still socially unacceptable to wear a Snuggie or a quilt out in public. I know. I'm disappointed too)

Joking aside, a blanket scarf can be a major outfit lifesaver. You can throw one on top of the most basic outfit and look like you stepped out of a magazine or a fashion blogger's best dream (And if your scarf is big enough, you can unfold it and wear it around like a shawl - all the coziness of a blanket cape disguised as fashion! You're welcome).

4. Shorts

Yes, you read that right.

Up until recently, it's been super hot out. (High 70s to mid 80s in September?!) But now the chilly temps are here to stay (hopefully). However, that may be a problem. If you live in a dorm, or away from home for that matter, you may not have your full Fall and Winter wardrobe yet.

That's okay! You can improvise with your summer clothes and it takes minimal thought and effort. With shorts, you can make them weather appropriate with tights or leggings (as seen above) and even layer extra high socks on top for extra warmth and a cool look. While denim shorts look amazing like this, for extra coziness, go for knit shorts - no possible chafing and they're usually super soft!

5. Fuzzy Socks with Boots

This one may be throwing you for a loop, but true story; this is a more grown up alternative to the coziness of Ugg boots. Not saying that Ugg boots are awful, because they are amazing, but a girl can only take so many "basic white girl" jokes.

I actually stumbled across this idea a while back on College Fashion and let me just say that whoever wrote that post is a genius. It blows my mind that such a simple idea can make being cozy also fashionable, and I can enjoy my coffee drinks without anyone judging me and my footwear. (And it makes any socks gifted during the holidays that much better. Just saying.)

Fashion is a very personal thing, so in your pursuit of coziness, don't forget to be true to your style as well. Whether you prefer preppy collars or Doc Martens, I hope you're cozy this Fall!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
