Getting ready to go off to college for the first time is an exciting and very overwhelming experience. After months of impatiently waiting, move in day is only a couple of days away. Exciting, right? Of course, but now there are other gut-wrenching emotions mixed within creating a huge wad of anxiety. The move in day jitters are beginning to set in.
Here are five emotions that new students feel days before moving in:
1. Nervous
It's normal to feel nervous when you're about to start a huge new chapter in your life that is going to shape your future. You're going to be living in a different and unfamiliar environment where you will be given freedoms you never had before. It's something we all will have to eventually adapt to.
2. Stressed
Am I forgetting anything? Did I pack too much? Will I have enough space? What do I do with my car? There are so many unanswered questions and so much to do.
3. Sad
I didn't expect to feel upset like I do now. I haven't left yet and I'm already missing my family, my boyfriend, and even my cat. It'll be hard not seeing them everyday. You'll miss your family and friends more than you expected to.
4. Scared
Along with being in a different and unfamiliar environment, you're also going to be around of many unfamiliar people. Who can you really trust?
5. Excited
Once every thought from emotions one through four have passed over and over again, you finally start to realize you are about to have the best four years of your life studying what you enjoy while having fun and learning more about yourself. You'll have ups and downs, but everything will be OK in the end.
