When people think of culinary hotspots New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago come to mind, but what about Atlanta? Known for it's state fruit (peaches fyi), Georgia's capital city is the melting pot filled to the brim with different ethnic foods from countries all over the world. Now, as delicious as a sloppy joe is, it's not the more appetizing culinary concoction to take a photo of. In this modern society, where everything is documented through social media, here is a short go-to guide of some of the most "Instagrammable" food eateries in Atlanta.
1. Brush Sushi Izakaya // Decatur, GA
Brush ATL is a Japanese gastropub that combines both the authentic quality of Japanese pub food with sushi created with the up most care and detail. The restaurant chooses to convey the minimalistic qualities of their respected cuisine while elevating the taste and look of the food with modern flavors and techniques. The restaurant presents only the highest quality of ingredients with Mizakazi Wagyu beef and Kurabuta Pork. Winning the honor of the "Best Yakitori (skewered chicken)" in 2016 by Atlanta's Best, Brush showcases style with quality, providing one of the finest dining experiences.
2. I-CY NY ATLANTA (Doravilla, GA)
One of the most popular Thai streetfood, rolled ice cream is no stranger to the dessert world. Rolled ice cream is created in front of you with a liquid cream base on a cold plate. After the base has become more of a solid, toppings, such as fruits, candies, and cookies, are crushed and mixed into the base. The skillful ice cream roller then spreads out the mixture thinly into a rectangle and, well...rolls your ice cream! It's then topped with more goodies, making it one of the most photogenic desserts your Instagram feed will display.
3. BRASH (Atlanta, GA)
One of the most common foodie Instagram picture is at a coffee shop. Located in one of the most innovative "buildings", BRASH Coffee is based in two shipping containers, keeping a minimalistic look with a clear glass window along half of the container. BRASH's main focus is on the simply quality of coffee, to bring out the taste and the texture of coffee that may be overlooked by spoiled tasted buds (spoiled as in frappuccinos, not spoiled as in gone bad.).
P.S. If you're getting a cup of coffee at Brash, you might as well get your sugar fix at Jeni's Ice Cream. My favorite flavors are Riesling Pear and Wildberry Lavender. I know, how bougie can I really get?
4. Staplehouse (Atlanta, GA)
One of my favorites that Atlanta has to offer, Staplehouse is a for-profit subsidiary for The Giving Kitchen, a non-profit organization that gives back to the restaurant community members that are dealing with a hardships, like an injury. Bon Appetit Magazine voted Staplehouse the "#1 Restaurant of 2016", and that's no surprise with Chef Ryan Smith, who is also in the running for a James Beard award (think Oscars but for the culinary industry) for Best Chef in the Southeast. With a seasonal course menu, Staplehouse offers in season produce to provide one of the tastiest dining experiences. I do have to warn you though, although there is a walk-in time, your best bet would be to make a reservation. Unfortunately, everything's sold out till June, which reservations open on May 12. Good luck!
5. Honeysuckle Gelato (Atlanta, GA)
Now, how could I end this without mentioning one of the most go-to dessert of all time? Honeysuckle Gelato, located inside the mega-foodie heaven of Ponce City Market, offers 12 different gelato flavors, like Bourbon and Toasted Marshmallows. It can also be topped with more deliciousness, like Lavender Honey, Amaretti Crumbles, and Apple Cinnamon Caramel. I mean, sure they offer more traditional flavors, but where's the fun in that? Honeysuckle Gelato is also one of the few places I know that offers ice cream sandwiched between your choice of brownie, chocolate chip, or pie crust cookies. I recommend all of it; you won't be disappointed!
Now with the location feature on Instagram it's easy to discover new places to eat, eateries that you may not have know that your city offers. That's one of the beauties of social media. Just don't forget to respect the people your out with. Take your picture, and if you can't figure out the perfect caption, just post it later. Make sure you put your phone down and enjoy your scrumptious food (and the company of others, but I mean, priorities, right?)
*Unfortunately, I wasn't able to post the actual Instagram images through this medium. However, I'm sure you all have the Instagram app, so please check out all of these eateries!
Cheers.
