It’s nearly Halloween! And if I know anything about college students, that means many of you forgot to get a costume -- a holiday must! Your time is running down to the last minute, and your options are getting slim. Either you buy an overpriced, poorly made costume from the store, or make your own. The latter is definitely the better of those two options. You probably think that will be hard to do, but no worries, I’ve got your back.

1. Gypsy

Girls, get a loose flowing skirt and long-sleeved baggy shirt. Black boots on your feet and a scarf around your head; add some gold jewelry, and you’re set! Guys can do this too! Try to get a baggy long-sleeved shirt, a vest, and some cloth to tie around your neck. Bonus points for having a crystal ball or bag of runes!

2. Zombie

Super simple! Have some old clothes lying around that you don’t mind roughing up? Add some rips and tears, distress them if you know how! Then add some dirt stains, and fake blood! No blood? You can make it super easily at home! Then feel free to use makeup on yourself to give your face that gruesome un-dead look!

3. Ghost

Have an all-white outfit to wear? Throw it on and then just use some black and white makeup to get that ghostly vibe! Or, go the classic Charlie Brown route and throw on a sheet!

4. Pirate

Get a baggy shirt, a vest, either a skirt or pants, a bandana, and a chunky belt. Black, red, blue, and white stripes are preferred. Throw on some gold jewelry and boots, and you’ve got yourself a pirate! Add a toy sword or bird for extra effect!

5. Vampire

Try to get together as many black clothes as you can. Red accents are a must! Girls - dresses are recommended. Guys -- usually go for a vest and cape. Add in some white makeup and some fake blood to complete the outfit. Try to find fake fangs if you can!

Feel free to mix up these ideas as you see fit! Make a vampirate! Or a ghost-gypsy! The possibilities are only limited by your creativity!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
