As college students are heading into finals week, our stress levels are as high as the number of hours we have wasted throughout the semester watching Netflix. Our grades rely on this one last test that can make or break the grades we have been trying so hard to attain all semester. To relieve stress students try many different techniques such as eating, drinking, exercising, or watching even more Netflix. One of my favorite ways to de-stress is go on trips down memory lane and relive some of my favorite childhood activities. Here is my list of top five childhood activities that can alleviate finals week stress:
1. Legos
Let’s be real. No matter what age you are Legos are legit and are always so much fun. There is something special about being able to use your own creativity and build something with your own hands. Playing with Legos can be a great way to relieve stress, as long as you remember to pick them up and not step on them later.
2. Bop It Extreme
I was not just a Bop It kid, I was a Bop It Extreme kid. My friends and I would love to hang out and play Bop It Extreme to see who could get the highest score. I always thought it was one of the most fun games in the world, and I would even take it on some road trips. Bop It Extreme would be a great way to spend a 15 minute study break between preparation for your calculus and chemistry exams.
3. Play-Doh
Spaghetti and Meatballs. Hamburgers and Fries. Even a McFlurry. I remember it being so awesome to make food out of Play-Doh. The possibilities are endless to all the creations that can be made. As a college student, not only can your imagination run wild, but being able to squeeze and smash Play-Doh is also a great way to mitigate stress.
4. Slinky
As simple as it is, I think we can all agree a slinky can be surprisingly entertaining. The sloosh sloosh sloosh sound it makes going down the stairs can be oddly satisfying. Finding a slinky and the longest set of stairs can be a great use of a study break during Finals Week.
5. The Great Outdoors
Just taking some time to go outside is one of the best ways to relieve stress. As a kid all my best memories were made in the outdoors. Going outside to get some sunlight and enjoy a light breeze is a great way to relieve some stress and refocus on that final push.
As you go into finals week, I challenge you to go back to your childhood roots and find new ways to relieve your stress. Whether it is one of my favorite childhood activities or one of your own, going on a trip down memory lane can be quite enjoyable. Good luck to everyone on your finals, and may the curve be ever in your favor.
