It's no secret that I am a book nerd. It's also no secret that I once tried to write my own book, got halfway through, then called it quits. How authors can put a story together and still make it interesting is beyond me. I've read my fair share of books, even including those on the internet. Here are five books that I would recommend in a heartbeat if anyone ever asked me for book suggestions.
1. "After" by Anna Todd
My first suggestion would be "After". I read this book when I was in high school, so the fact that it still remains at the top of my favorites list baffles me. I love the story of Hardin and Tessa so much, that I read all five books in the series before determining the first was my favorite. The way Anna has you wondering what it is that you don't know is what makes this book so great. The plot twist doesn't come till the last chapter of the book, but it was so worth the wait. I've recommended this book to a lot of my girl friends who love it almost as much as I do.
2. "The Sea Of Tranquility" by Katja Millay
This book was recommended to me by one of my closest friends. I started it and thought it was gonna be your average love story. I was so intrigued by Nastya and Josh's relationship that I kept reading it. However, I cannot express how amazed I was when I got to the last 100 or so pages and the major plot twist happens. I was not expecting it, but I really taught me to value life and changed my outlook. I recommended this book to one of my friends, who came back to tell me that it changed her life too. It's a great book that I highly suggest.
3. "Hopeless" by Colleen Hoover
This story has quite a few similarities to "The Sea Of Tranquility" but also has it's differences. I thought it would be a love story but it has a hint of mystery to it as well. The plot twist in this book was probably one of the biggest plot twists I've ever witnessed in a book. I was on the edge of my toes, and once the main plot twist happens, it is followed by smaller twists up until the very last page.
4. "Panic" by Lauren Oliver
I got this book for Christmas one year and just reading the back, I knew it would be interesting. It follows seniors in High school who decide to play the legendary game of Panic. Everyone puts money down, then seniors compete in competitions to see who will win the money. There is one person who decides what the challenges will be and holds the money for the winner. He, however, is not revealed until the end of the book. To get eliminated you have to either chicken out of a competition, or complete in the slowest time. The stunts these kids participate in are so dangerous and daring I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. It's a very suspenseful, heart-pounding book.
5. "The Leaving" by Tara Altebrando
This book has recently become one of my favorites. From the cover of this book, you can tell that it is gonna be mysterious. It starts off with six kindergarteners who vanish one day with no trace.11 years later, five of them return. None of them remember what happened or how they got back. They don't know each other, or the sixth and still missing, Max. They suffer from severe memory loss. The entire time I read this book I was on the edge of my seat. To say this book is shocking would be an understatement. If mystery and suspense are your thing, you will love this book.
