College is not easy. It's hard to get acclimated to the new environment, make new friends, and take classes that only allow you to get three hours of sleep. But one thing I have found to be helpful is putting my faith in the Lord and completely relying on Him. Here are five Bible verses for any stressed-out college student who feels unsure if they can do it anymore.
1. Philippians 4:6-7
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
This verse is great because it reminds me to put everything in perspective. No matter what the outcome, always remember to give thanks. You're never more than you can handle, so give thanks.
2. Isaiah 26:3-4
"You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the LordGod is an everlasting rock."
The picture of being trapped in a storm with only a rock to cling to is powerful, especially since that's how life sometimes feels. Everything else may fade away, and the storm will eventually subside, but God's peace and love will stay everlasting through it all.
3. Hebrews 13:5-6
"Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, 'I will never leave you nor forsake you.”So we can confidently say,“The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?'"
This is an important verse in college because it's so easy to get caught up in materialistic and worldly things. But you always have to remember that no matter what, God has got your back.
4. Proverbs 12:25
“An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up.”
This is such an awesome reminder. One of the best things I do when feeling anxious is to compliment someone else or do a favor for someone. You should try it, because it truly changes your day, theirs, and glorifies the Lord!
5. Philippians 4:13
“I can do everything through him who gives me strength."
If you only remember one thing from this list, take this verse as your lesson learned. I have this on a sticky note in my agenda as my daily reminder, because it is so true. If you lean on God, He will guide you in the right direction and help you prosper.
I hope that these verses can help anyone struggling, as much as they've helped me. Remember that even in the darkest times, to remain faithful and have hope.
