Living in Philadelphia has it’s many ups and downs. Some up’s we have here are the cheese steaks and the rich history of the city. Some downs we have are the high volume of people in the city at all times and the wonderful Septa always being late. But as true Philadelphians there’s one thing that defines us, the wonderful shows that are based in our wonderful city. Here are five of the best that if you haven’t watched yet, you should.
Boy Meets World
This show follows Cory, a teenage boy learning everything he needs to know about life. The chronicles are about Cory and his friends coming to age together. The show also follows the love interest between Cory and Topanga. This is a great show based in Philadelphia and they even have spinoff, “Girl Meets World”, starring a Philadelphia local Sabrina Carpenter.
How To Get Away With Murder
Shonda Rhimes pulled out all the stops with this show. After the huge successes of Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal, Rhimes came to the game once again with this new thriller. How To Get Away With Murder follows the lawyer/professor Annalise Keating and her law students. I don’t want to give away too many spoilers, but it’s definitely one to watch.
Parking Wars
Parking Wars is a live show filmed in Philadelphia. It follows the Philadelphia Parking Enforcement on their everyday journeys. If you like watching people walk to their car as it’s getting ticketed (more interesting than is sounds at times), I highly suggest Parking Wars.
Cold Case
Cold Case ran from 2003 to 2010, but you can still catch old episodes on TV from time to time. Cold Case was a fictional story about a sector of the Philadelphia Police Department that specialized in Cold Cases. This thriller followed detective Lilly Rush and the multiple partners she had over the course of the show. If you’re into Law & Order or NCIS, I would definitely give Cold Case a look.
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Perhaps the most well known show that is based in the wonderful city of Philadelphia is It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. This show follows five friends who own a bar together. Dennis, Dee, Mac, Charlie, and Frank all make the show one of the funniest I’ve ever seen. The show it still airing on Comedy Central, but season one to season seven are all on Netflix. I HIGHLY recommend this show, you will not regret it.
