Coming from a small town it's hard to find a lot of reviews on small town restaurants. Most people tend to just go, enjoy it, and come back next time. I've always liked going to lesser-known places rather than big name restaurants. Perkasie, Pennsylvania, though small in comparison to some towns, is bustling with great hidden eats. This Eastern Pennsylvania town is sure to please when it comes to unique food place choices.

1. Maize Restaurant

Maize Restaurant on West Walnut Street in Perkasie offers amazing American cuisine. Each dish is elegantly served and presented to the guest. Maize is open daily from 5pm to 10pm except on Sunday and Monday. This places offers a quiet yet elegant place to enjoy a meal. Maize recommends making reservations. This restaurant is also BYOB.

2. The Perk Eatery and Pub

The Perk Eatery and Pub is located on East Walnut Street in Perkasie. This place serves great american food ranging from crab cakes to wings and every Wednesday night there is the offer of wings and clams. This place reminds people more of a hang out and a place to gather and have a good time. Certain nights of the month there are trivia and most nights is live music. This place has been around

3. Sapori Italian Restaurant and Pizza

Sapori is an amazing authentic Italian restaurant with over 35 gourmet pizza options. Their choice of pasta dishes is extensive and they have amazing appetizers. This place is very different from all the pizzerias in the surrounding area. They offer you the option of sitting out on the patio during the warmer months. Sapori is a diamond in the rough in Perkasie.

4. Down to Earth Cafe

Down to Earth Cafe is a hidden gem. It is a cafe with all natural food options. The staff is wonderful and it is a very "down to earth" feel. Artwork and photographs line the walls and almost every piece of table decoration is available to purchase. It is a cafe that brings glory to local artists and it is a nice place to sit down with some friends for lunch or breakfast and plan out meetings, or just to talk about what has been happening in life. This is a guaranteed great eat! I highly recommend the Fresh Mozzarella sandwich.

5. Pomodorino Pizza

Pomodorino Pizza is a quaint little restaurant in a Perkasie shopping center. It is located on Constitution Avenue. They have an extensive menu of Italian cuisine and this small, yet attentive restaurant is bring your own bottle for legal ages. Pomodorino Pizza knows how to bring the taste of Italy to Perkasie.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
