The 5 Best Movies And Shows To Watch During Thanksgiving Break

Congrats, fellow college students. You made it to Thanksgiving Break. I know how I'm going to reward myself for surviving the semester, and that is by binge watching my favorite movies and shows. Recently, Netflix has added new shows and movies to its library and it couldn't have come at a better time. After you catch up with friends and family, there are so many new series that are trending on social media right now that watching Netflix is all my break will consist of. Here is a list of new additions, favorite classics, and some in-between shows and movies that are perfect for after Thanksgiving dinner.

5. The Lizzie McGuire Movie

I included this throwback movie on the list because its perfect for stress relief. You know you cant help but to wish Lizzie will stop friend zoning Gordo, but the real reason to watch the adventures of Lizzie in Rome is so that you can sing “This is what dreams are made of” at the top of your lungs. “Sing to me, Paolo!”

4. 10 Things I Hate About You

This is such a classic teen angst movie, and no matter how many times you have seen it you will find yourself smiling and wishing you went to high school in the 90’s with Heath Ledger. 10 out of 10 would recommend 10 Things I Hate About You.

3. Shameless

I haven't started watching this Netflix series yet, but it’s definitely popular. It’s based on a British series, and its a drama about a family coping with the issues surrounding an alcoholic father. What sparked my interest was the hype around the character Lip Gallagher, the attractive yet troubled bad boy. That's my reason for binging.

2. Friends Thanksgiving Episodes

Take your pick of any season, but don't miss your chance to get your fill of Thanksgiving-themed laughs from your six favorite Friends. I highly recommend starting at season one’s “The One Where Underdog Gets Away,” and working your way through all of them. P.S. don't forget to watch the one in season 5 when Monica wears the turkey on her head.

1. Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life

Stop reading this, and go mark your calendar for November 25th, that’s the day after Thanksgiving, also known as the release of the Gilmore Girls revival on Netflix! We get to see the most iconic duo, Rory and Lorelei, back in action. This can also be seen as a perfect reason to have a throwback marathon of Gilmore Girls the whole week. This is the icing on the cake- or should I say whipped cream on the pumpkin pie- of my Thanksgiving break.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
