It feels weird to think that in just two months, I'll be done with two years of college. TWO. What the heck. Spring break has given me a lot of time to think and analyze what went well and what didn't. Here are the best things I've done in college so far.
1. Deciding to live in a new place with random roommates
When I was picking out where to live for this year, I had just decided to stay at A&M instead of transferring elsewhere. I wanted to live in a complex where none of my friends lived, and I purposely didn't want to live with my friends so that I could branch out more. My bizarre idea worked, and I now have three amazing roommates and so many more amazing friends they've introduced me too. Sometimes taking a risk works, and this definitely did for me.
2. Changing my major
Guys, your major is an outlet to what you will be doing for the rest of your life. If you don't like most if not all of it, then change your major. Seriously. I started out as a public health major, and I just couldn't deal with the countless science classes required for the major. It's an amazing program, don't get me wrong, but I just couldn't see myself in the field. Changing my major to economics is one of the best choices I've made in college, and I love all the classes I'm taking and everything I'm learning.
3. Joining my dance team
I legit talk about this all the time, I love my dance team and everyone who's involved. You've heard me talk about this enough...
4. Joining my Women's Leadership Organization
I joined my amazing women's leadership organization a couple of weeks ago. I did it mainly also to branch out, join an organization that promoted women's empowerment, leadership and did a lot of community service. Even though I haven't been in it for very long, I already know that I made the right choice applying for this amazing organization.
5. Deciding to write for the Odyssey
For those of you that haven't caught on already, a lot of what I do is take spur of the moment decisions and kinda hope for the best. Applying to write for the Odyssey was kinda the same thing. I just applied, hoped for the best and waited. Over the past couple of months, I've learned a lot and have really developed my writing and communication skills.
