College is a very meaningful time in our lives as young
people or even as non-traditional students. It’s a place that each of us go to learn, yet we often leave with something much more. Depending on the kind of
student one may be, getting an on-campus degree has taught me a lot about
myself. I’ve learned how to use my time more wisely by utilizing the time I have
in between classes and just taking advantage of every free minute of my day.
Here are some major benefits I’ve received from being an on-campus student.
1. Getting a chance to meet new people
As a college student, you may run into many different people that might not necessarily be in the same grade as you but you have the same classes. I have also reconnected with people from my hometown. Which has made me value friendship a bit more, because I don’t see them as often.
2. One-on-One with the professors.
Having my professors close means that they are there to answer any questions that I may have about an assignment or anything that might be on my mind. Sometimes if questions pop up in my head, they are always nearby to ask.
3. Access to computers, internet, etc.
Sometimes we may not always have the best running technology, or our internet may be running slow. Being on-campus also helps me utilize the materials such as computers internet or even have access to programs that I may not have on my computer.
4. Events
We all know that we sometimes need a time to calm down and just relax. One aspect I enjoy about my University is that they host events in celebration of certain holidays or even movie nights. These are good ways to seek a relaxation from all of the school work in my head.
5. Tutoring
Tutoring is something that can be received on campus. It is easier to interact with the tutor one on one, so that they can see where I may be struggling, and help me fix the problems in my work. I personally can’t do online tutoring because I am a very visual person that needs to be sitting next to someone in order to have something explained to me. This tool has helped me seek more help, if needed, or to at least know it’s there when I need to make an appointment.
