"Ecuador Cops Save Tiny Terrified Sloth In Most Adorable Highway Rescue Ever"
Transit police in Ecuador found this little guy hanging onto a pole on the side of the road for dear life. How he managed to get stuck on the side of the highway is a mystery, but the photos from this sloth's rescue adventure are absolutely adorable. Judging by the terrified look on his face I'm sure he was thrilled to be returned safely to his natural habitat. Fun fact: the word "sloth" in Spanish translates to oso perezoso, which literally means "lazy bear."
"Dog Escapes Cage To Comfort Rescue Puppies During Their First Night In Kennel"
Maggie the dog was the first to roll out the welcome wagon to two scared puppies in an Alberta, Canada pet motel. She was captured on a surveillance camera sneaking out of her own cage in the middle of the night to comfort two recently rescued 9-week-old puppies whining in their cages. When the motel owner found Maggie outside of the puppies' cages, she let the three dogs spend the night snuggling together. Clips of the surveillance footage can be seen here.
"Clive the Cat, Missing for a Year, Found Fat and Happy—in Pet Food Warehouse"
An English house cat named Clive went missing at just 9-months-old to one of the best possible places a cat could run away to: a giant warehouse full of pet food. Apparently, Clive has been living the dream for the past 14 months, between the endless amount of food he's had at his disposal to the occasional warehouse mouse that he's probably caught. Once warehouse workers found Clive, they were able to safely return him to his owner due to the microchip in his neck that tagged his name and address. Clive is pictured below, most likely in a food coma:
"Family Saves Lost Piglet From Freezing In Blizzard"
A piglet was rescued from a snowbank on the side of the road during a blizzard by a family on their way home from a ski trip in Pennsylvania. The piglet, who the family named Wee-Wee, was covered in snow and ice and had scrapes and bruises all over his body when he was found. The family reached out to the people living in the surrounding area, and no one knew where Wee-Wee had come from. The family took the pig in and brought him back to their hotel, where they warmed him up and fed him bananas. The pig currently resides with the family at their home in Maryland but will soon go to a forever home at a nearby animal sanctuary."Dog accidentally runs half-marathon, finishes in seventh place"
A 2.5-year-old bloodhound named Ludivine wandered away from her owner's backyard and somehow ended up at the starting gate of the inaugural Trackless Train Trek Half Marathon in Elkmont, Alabama. Not only did Ludivine complete the full 13.1 miles, she unofficially came in seventh place overall, which is quite a feat for a dog described by her owner as "actually very lazy." Ludivine kept up with the leaders of the pack for most of the race, stopping only to occasionally sniff wildlife or play in a stream. The publicity that Ludivine has brought to this race is helping raise money for the cross country program in the Elkmont school system.
