1. Hershey Park
Located in Hershey, PA, Hershey Park first opened in 1906 as a leisure park for the employees of the Hershey Chocolate Company. In 1923, the first rollercoaster, Wildcat, was opened in the park, which led the creation of the park that we know today. With a boardwalk that consists of water slides, a lazy river, and multiple pools, Hershey Park is the perfect summer day get away. Start your day at the Boardwalk, and gradually work your way back to the front of the park by riding the multiple roller-coasters along the way, and then end on the Hershey chocolate ride and get a free piece of candy.

Located near Richmond, VA, Kings Dominion offers numerous roller coasters and rides. This park is quite famous for having Nickelodeon themed attractions. First opened in 1975, it offered just 15 attractions. Today, the park offers 60 activates in the park between attractions, rides, and shows. Busy during the day? No problem, enter the park after 4 p.m. and save money on tickets, and ride the rides when families are getting ready to go home. Kings Dominion also offers a water park that is included in admission.

Looking for a mini vacation? Head to Busch Gardens. Located in Williamsburg, VA, not only are you able to go to the amusement park, but can also visit Colonial Williamsburg. First opened in 1975, with a European theme, the park has since grown with multiple different areas representing countries, adding a special twist to the park. With the numerous rollercoasters, rides, and shows, there are multiple things to do. There is also a water park, called Water Country USA, but it is an additional cost as it is a separate park.

If you’re looking for a cheaper and smaller amusement park, check out this family owned park located in New Market, MD right off of Route 70. First opened in 2005, Adventure Park U.S.A. has grown a lot over the past ten years. Offering mini golf, two roller coasters, laser tag, an arcade, go carts, and multiple kiddie rides. There is something for everyone at this park. Only want to play laser tag? No problem, you can purchase credits for only laser tag.

Staying in Ocean City for the week or maybe just a weekend and looking for something to do? Look no further than the end of the boardwalk. Trimper’s Rides offers multiple thrill rides that are ticket based. Buy the number of tickets for the rides you would like to ride, and you’re on your way. The best part about this is walking around the park while being right on the beach. Trimper’s opened in Ocean City in 1890, and although a few storms have tried to tear it down, it has defied all odds.
