Ever get really hungry when you're on campus, but you don't want to eat college food yet again? How about when you're really low on funds, and you're just craving something so delicious, but you don't want to bust the bank? Here are 5 restaurants in and around Scranton that are awesome for a college budget!


1. Avocado Sushi


Located in Dunmore on 1202 O'neill Highway, Avocado Sushi has a wide variety of food! They are affordable and some of the best sushi I have ever had while in the Scranton area. They offer other foods as well, such as hibachi, noodles, salads, and more!

2. Zummo's Cafe


Located in Scranton on 916 Marion Street, Zummo's Cafe is a delicious little spot in Scranton. Serving as a coffee shop and restaurant, the food is delicious! Grab a scone, sandwich, soup or salad, and hang out, read a book surf the web and just relax! Bonus: it's a three minute drive from campus!

3. Northern Lights Cafe


Also located in Scranton on 536 Spruce St, Northern Lights has the perfect college hangout atmosphere. Just like Zummo's, Northern lights coffee, smoothies, deserts, and a variety of different foods, all for a college budget! It's located in downtown Scranton, so enjoy the shopping in the area as well, and take a nice stroll and take in the sights.

4. Nape's Takeout


Located in Old Forge, on 700 Oak St, it is the best small ran business there. Serving as primarily takeout with the option of eating in, get great all homemade food for a good price! Specializing in pierogies, sandwiches, soups, appetizers, salads, almost anything you can want, go for it! It's about a 15 minute drive from Scranton, but it is well worth every bite.

5.JJ McNally's


Located in Scranton on 501 Linden Street. Want delicious, healthy, and affordable food? Try JJ Mcnally's! You won't regret it and you'll definitely get addicted. They have salads, sandwiches, and brunch items, as well as a hipster, college joint vibe. You'll walk in and instantly feel welcomed. Affordable prices, good food, and the downtown Scranton vibe, perfect scenario.
