Let's face it; we all zone out in class from time to time. Most of the time it's because we have something else on our mind. Every now and then, these thoughts distract us during class:

1. I'm hungry


2. I wonder if they are serving anything good at the dining hall tonight

3. Do I have homework to do tonight?


4. Did I do my homework for my next class?

5. Man, I hate doing homework


6. I really don't want to go to my next class

7. How many classes have I skipped this semester?


8. Should I take a nap when I get back?

9. I wonder what my roommates are doing right now?


10. I should really get back onto a normal sleep schedule

11. I am so tired all the time


12. I want to be back in my bed and watching Netflix

13. What Netflix show should I start when I finish my series?


14. I should really go to the gym today

15. I saw a detox online today; maybe I'll try it


16. Will I be up all night tonight if I get another coffee?

17. I need a snack


18. I have to call my parents later

19. I should FaceTime my hometown friends more


20. When's the next break or long weekend?

21. I wonder how much money is left on my credit card ...

22. I wish I had an unlimited supply of money

24. I like that girl's shirt up there, I wonder where she got it

26. I think I am going to borrow that cute shirt of my roommate's this weekend

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
