1.You always know what to say, or what not to say.

Sometimes all I need is for you to hold my hand as I brave a storm, but when I need your advice, you know exactly what to say to make me feel better.

2. You show up places wearing the same thing as me, unplanned.


Honestly, this is hella funny, but it's also really annoying please stop being the same person as me.

3. You can make me laugh harder than anyone.


Sometimes you don't even say anything funny, but I find your existence to be absolutely hilarious. Your jokes are also funnier to me than anyone else's.

4. Awkward silence doesn't exist.

Just being with one another is comfortable. I don't need to avoid silence in order to feel close to you.

5. You're here, no matter what.


Through everything, for everything, for forever. Thank you.

6. You allow me to be completely myself.


Nothing I could do or say will scare you away. You've seen literally every side of me, the good, the bad, and the hella weird.

7. You're just as weird as me.


I've never met anyone else who compliments my quirkiness so well.

8. I miss you after I don't see you for 48 hours.


We've gone to the same school since fifth grade and I still miss you when I don't see you on weekends.

9. You don't judge me when I dance at the worst times.


I love the cha cha slide, thank you for doing this with me at any time. (Even in the middle of the grocery store.)

10. You let me read you everything I write, and you listen even when it sucks.


You're the best critic, and my #1 fan.

I know that you have my back in literally everything I do, even when you don't agree.

Your closet is like Forever 21. Seriously, it's the best.

I can always count on you to sing High School Musical with me.

14. You're always down for late night drives.

Speeding down the freeway with the windows down and the music blasting is always better with you sitting next to me.

15. You give me the cherries from your milkshakes because you know I love them.

16. You let me vent, but you don't let me get carried away.

You're always there to support me and to listen to my problems, but you call me out when I'm out of line.

17. You tell me when I'm acting crazy.


You let me know when I'm going overboard with things, even when I don't listen.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
