40 Thoughts You Have While Packing For School

I’ve just realized that I need to start packing for yet another year of school because I have no time. Here are the thoughts that I have running through my head.

1. All right, let’s see. Where do I start?

2. I mean, I guess I could find all the stuff I packed away at the end of the year.

3. Now where exactly did I put all those boxes?

4. Wait. I swear I had more.

5. What even is in this box?

6. Wait, OK. Let’s be organized.

7. Let’s make this pile closet stuff, and this bed stuff.

8. Did I even use this last year?

9. Um, let’s try making a list.

10. This is so disorganized. I don’t like it.

11. Wait, I need another box.

12. I give up. Let’s move on to clothing.

13. OK, what am I not going to wear within the next three weeks?

14. Did I even get to wear this dress?

15. Do I really need this dress at school?

16. But it’s such a cute dress.

17. Wait, if I’m not back home until October, I need fall clothes.

18. Ugh! Where did I put my fall/winter clothes?

19. Wait, what shoes do I bring?

20. Did I leave clothes for myself to wear for the next few weeks?

21. Am I going anywhere important that requires me to keep nice clothes out?

22. Oh wait! Can’t forget jewelry.

23. Oh, and some of my makeup.

24. Wow, OK. That is a big pile of clothes.

25. Oh well, everything in a duffle bag for now. I shall fold later.

26. Do I have anything in my room that I need to bring to the move-in pile?

27. All right, let’s tackle this mess.

28. Wait, where did this come from?

29. Oh shoot. I need to buy this ASAP.

30. Maybe if I ask my parents nicely they will pay for it.

31. So I need this from Target and this from Costco.

32. I want this from Amazon, but that can wait.

33. Did I really bring all of this last year?

34. Finally! One box is complete, I hope.

35. Why do I feel like I was more organized last year?

36. Why do I unpack things? I should just leave it next time.

37. Last box, oh my goodness.

38. I really hope I didn’t forget anything.

39. Let’s double check to make sure.

40. Finished. Now can I go back to school already?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
