40 Quotes To Help You Through The Week

On this crazy journey through life, it's easy to get thrown off course. We may find ourselves to be a tad lost. What brings us back to reality is words of wisdom, kindness, love and empowerment. Here are some quotes to get you, or someone else, to help you get through your week. These are supportive affirmations that would be useful when kept in your back pocket on a day when you need a pick-me-up, or if someone you know needs a reason to smile.

1. "Still I Rise." -Maya Angelou

When times get rough, remember that the storm will pass, and the sun will shine. When you overcome one obstacle, you can conquer anything.

2. "The only thing standing between you and your goal is the bullshit story you keep telling yourself as to why you can't achieve it." -Jordan Belfort

It's so easy to discourage yourself. You make up excuses as to why you can't or won't do something. You skip classes when you feel too tired or lazy, or if your head slightly hurts. You have to cut that out! You won't be able to reach your full potential or live out your dreams if you keep telling yourself you can't do it. I promise you can do it! All things are possible if you believe.

3. "It's time to start living." -Unknown

It's time for you to stop living in the past and live for the present. It's hard sometimes to let go of the past and the people you care about, but you have to do what is necessary in finding true happiness for yourself.

4. "Be the type of person who leaves a mark, not a scar." -Unknown

Make a positive impact on someone's heart, don't become a destruction in someone's life to the point where you're hurting them more than helping. Be a person worth remembering in a positive light, not the person they remember because of the pain you caused them.

5. "If I've learned anything in life, it's that you should tell people how important they are to you. Not because they could leave at any moment, but because they're here now, and it's worth saying something." -Unknown

It's better to say what's in your heart when you have the opportunity rather than wait and live with regret. Make sure every conversation ends with positivity.

6. "Everything happens for a reason." -Marilyn Monroe

Super cliche, but it speaks volumes.

7. "The beginning is always today." -Mary Wollstonecraft

It's never too late to start over. Each day brings a new opportunity. It's okay to fail, as long as you look at the next day as a chance to try again.

8. "I can and I will." -Unknown

Watch me.

9. "&."

This isn't a quote, but it is a symbol to keep moving forward. It's a broken infinity sign; not everything will last forever, but there is always an "and."

10. "Once you stop chasing the wrong the wrong things, you give the right things a chance to catch you." -Lolly Daskal

Ask yourself, "Am I going after the right things?" If not, give yourself some time for the positive to flow into your life.

11. "If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door." -Milton Berle

If what you're passionate about isn't making itself known, take things into your own hands and make it happen. Otherwise, it never will.

12. "The trick, kiddo," his mom replies slowly, "is finding someone who complements you instead of completes you. You need to be complete on your own." -The Fight, and Fate

As I have preached to the choir in my previous articles, you don't need someone to feel complete. You need to love yourself in order to be able to love someone else. Finding someone to compliment you- well, that's just an added bonus!

13. "Que sera sera" -Doris Day

"Whatever will be will be"

14. "You owe yourself the love that you so freely give to other people." -Unknown

Never forget to love yourself, remember that.

15. "The lion doesn't sleep over the opinion of a sheep." -Unknown

16. "Don't worry until there is something to worry about." -Anonymous

Don't stress over things that haven't happened yet. Until there is a reason to worry, don't stress yourself out!

17. "I am a warrior." -Demi Lovato

After overcoming an obstacle in your life, whatever that obstacle might be, remember you are a warrior, and no one or nothing can hurt you again. Don't be a worrier, be a warrior.

18. "What if I fall?" -Erin Hanson

Oh, but my darling what if you fly? If you're going after something, jump into it head first and don't question what may happen. Who knows, you may succeed.

19. "Remember why you started." -Unknown

20. "Spend your time on those who love you unconditionally. Don't waste it on those who only love you when the conditions are right for them." -Unknown

You don't deserve someone who only wants you when it's convenient for you. You don't need anyone who doesn't need you!

21. "I don't believe you should make fun of anyone but yourself." -Cameron Diaz

Gossip is so common. We all fall guilty of this act. You wouldn't want someone making fun of you, right? If you're going to poke fun at anyone, it might as well be yourself to show that no one else can.

22. Symbol: Arrow

An arrow can only be released by pulling it back. When life sets you back, it means that you will be launched into something amazing. Follow your arrow, wherever it points.

23. "Be strong. You never know who you are inspiring." -Unknown

When facing hardship, nothing is more inspiring than someone who can smile through the pain and not let what's going on affect them. That strength is beyond admirable, remember that when going through a rough time in your life. Someone is definitely applauding you for your courage.

24. "Ask yourself if what you're doing today is getting you closer to where you want to be tomorrow." -Unknown

25. "You may have had unfair things happen, but know that the depth of your pain is an indication of the height of your future." -Joel Osteen

If you're feeling down in the dumps and feel as though there is no hope in your future, know that there is. You will rise above the pain and live such a successful future. Some of the most famous people in our world have faced hardships and they overcame it with their success. You can do it too.

26. "Speak to all people as though they are the wisest, gentlest, most beautiful beings on earth, for what they believe they become." -Heather K. O'Hara

Empowerment is key. You honestly don't know the depth of your words until you see for yourself how it changes someone. Be a symbol of empowerment for someone you care about and want to see succeed.

27. "Namaste."

This is a term that means "we are one." Someone honors who you are and what lies within you, because it's within them too.

28. "When you hold resentment toward another, you are bound to that person or condition by an emotional link that is stronger than steel." -Catherine Ponder

Free yourself. Forgive and forget. Move forward.

29. "So keep your head high, keep your chin up, and most importantly keep smiling because life is a beautiful thing and there's so much to smile about." -Marilyn Monroe

30. "She needed a hero, so that's what she became." -Unknown

Superman is not going to fly in and save you from your problems. You are your own hero. No one knows you better than yourself.

31. "Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life. Tip toe if you must, but take the step." -Unknown

32. "The truth is, at any given moment, someone, somewhere, could be making a face about you, but it's the reviews you give yourself that matter." -Carrie Bradshaw

33. "For every minute you are angry, you lose 60 seconds of happiness." -Ralph Waldo Emerson

Spend your time wisely, because time is so precious. Choose happiness, always.

34. "Surround yourself with the dreamers and the doers, the believers and thinkers, but most of all, surround yourself with those who see greatness within you, even when you don't see it in yourself." -Edmund Lee

Again, surround yourself with positivity and positive actions will happen. Peace, love, and empowerment.

35. "Who we are is a result of how we live and act on a daily basis." -David Frawley

36. "Take a moment and realize how blessed you are." -Unknown

You are too blessed to be stressed. Live each day like it is the best day in the year.

37. "I love myself unconditionally and I accept myself as I am, despite my flaws." -Anonymous

It is so important in today's crazy world to remember to love yourself. There is no such thing as perfection, so love your flaws. Love who you are and embrace your imperfections.

38. "Be who you needed when you were younger." -Unknown

Not every story of a person's life is a perfect one. Growing up, not everyone has that support that everyone else had, whether it was from a parent, a friend, etc. Be your own source of strength, because you can give that strength to not only yourself, but to a friend, mentor and especially to your future children.

39. "The only person you should try to be better than is the person you were yesterday." -Unknown

Don't compare yourself to someone else. While someone may inspire you or be your idol, don't try to be someone you're not. People will love you for who you are, not for someone you're trying to be.

40. "I keep my ideals because in spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart." -Anonymous

Don't ever change what you feel or believe in because of someone else. Keep your ideals, be true to yourself.

I hope that after reading these, you feel a sense of peace within yourself. Give that feeling to someone else who needs it too. Thank you for those who inspired me by showing me these quotes. I hope you find what you need within this in order to get through your day, week, your hardship, etc.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
