4 Things I Want My College Friends To Know
Her Campus

Heading off to college can be a scary and anxious experience, especially if most of your friends went off to other colleges. With the new experience of being alone and having to start your life all over again, it feels as though things will never be the same. That's okay. Some things are better if they are different than what you are used to. New experiences. New surroundings. New people. Change can be good, especially if you find people that you connect with. With friends by your side at college, there is nothing you can't get through.

Here are four things that I want my college friends to know:

1. You're the type of friends I've been waiting for.

I never thought that I would meet such great people at college, but I was lucky that I did. I've never felt more like myself than when I am around them. They make me feel as though I can truly be myself without any judgement, and that was something that I didn't always have in high school. They are the people that I look forward to talking to everyday and planning things with. Whether it be a movie night or a night out in town, there is never a dull moment when I am with them.

2. You bring out the best in me.

I'm usually the type to keep to myself but you guys have brought out a confidence I've never seen in myself before. I've never laughed so freely or danced in a dorm kitchen so much while making cookies until I met you. I've never been the type to sing in front of people, but when I'm with you I do. You make me carefree and happy and I'm thankful for that. I've never had friends that understood me as well as you do.

3. You teach me new things about myself.

Everyday that I spend with you I've noticed that I've learned more things about myself. I've learned that I love to share my humor with the world via Twitter and Facebook. I've learned that it's okay not to be so serious and focused on schoolwork all the time. I've learned that I like different types of food, due to you making me try them at the food court. I've also learned that a lot of what I see in myself I also see in your personality. They say that friends that are too similar never get along, but I think that just makes our friendship better.

4. You make college feel like home.

College dorms will never feel like home, but with movie nights and sleepovers it's starting to feel more like it. I never thought that I would actually like being at college and away from my family and friends, but I've realized that you are my family. You support me, love me, care for me, and tease me like any family would. I'm thankful to know your presence and be in your life. You're my family away from home.

College is not always the easiest, but with friends like you I think I'll do just fine.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
