I have become accustomed to the many terms that the youth of today use to mean just simply enough, "good." I was thinking about the fact that we use so many terms to mean good that do not actually refer to something that is necessarily “good.” You might be confused as to what I am referring to but if you keep reading you won't be for long.
Here's four terms that can be used for your amusement:
1. Bomb
Bomb or more affectionately known as the bomb.com. “Thanks for letting me use your printer you’re the bomb.com. But the most common definition of bomb refers to this, "a device that is designed to explode in order to injure or kill people or to damage or destroy property." Thanks Merriam Webster.
2. Fire.
“Fire” is generally used more towards outfits and appearance. Commenting the fire emoji on someone’s Instagram post getting ready to go out and not in everyday attire is certainly not uncommon.
3. "It's lit."
IT'S ALMOST THAT TIME OF YEAR.
STILL NOT THIS MEANING OF LIT:
THIS MEANING OF LIT:
The term “it’s lit” generally refers to parties or anywhere where there are lots of people flocking to and fro. For example, looking over at your friend at a party and saying “it’s lit.”
4. "Dope"
Need I say more. This was more of a '90s term and Will Smith on “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” He used it quite a number of times.
5. "Killer"
NOT THIS KILLER:
LITERALLY TERRIFYING.
THIS KIND OF KILLER (BODY):
When referring to workouts/tests it still refers to something bad. “Zumba was killer today.” But, when used in reference to food, parties, bodies and almost anything else related in college life it means something good. For example, “Her legs are killer.”
How many of these terms do you use to mean “good?" What do you think of them? Let me know in the comments!
