Four Summer Music Festivals You Need To Check Out

With the second half of summer in full-swing, you may be starting to feel that summertime boredom. Well, I've got news for you friends: there is plenty of fun yet to be had. Oh, you need an idea? Well hey, that's what I'm here for. I've got four music festivals here that would be perfect for kicking boredom in the butt. Send a quick message via GroupMe and plan away!

1. Country Jam (July 23 – 25)

Location: Eau Claire, WI

Headliners include: Lady Antebellum, Blake Shelton and Eric Church

In my opinion, country music just sounds better in the summer. So what better way to celebrate the sunny season than with a weekend filled with some country twang?

How do I get tickets?

On the official website you can get a 3-day ticket for a reduced student discount price of $115, which is AWESOME, because a 1-day General Admission ticket goes for $105.

What should I wear?

Crop top, denim shorts, and cowboy boots for those of you with the confidence of a Victoria’s Secret model. If you’re looking for something a little more conservative, a summery sundress like this one is perfect. It’s on sale ladies! You’re welcome.

2. Lollapalooza (July 31 – August 2)

Location: Grant Park, Chicago, IL

Headliners include: Sam Smith, Florence + the Machine, A$AP Rocky, Of Mice and Men

This is the dessert at the end of the summer. What you’ve really been waiting for. With a lengthy list of big name performers and that incredible Chicago skyline lighting up the night, Lollapalooza is the PERFECT way to start winding down the summer.

How do I get tickets?

Tickets are sold out on the official Lollapalooza website, but are still available on sites such as Tickets Now, Stub Hub, and Ebay

What should I wear?

Lolla-goers sport their best laid-back street style, so try a cute & casual jumper like this one from Forever 21.

3. Summer Set (August 14 – 16)

Location: Somerset, WI

Headliners include: Bassnectar, Dead Maus, The Weekend

This is essentially a giant sleepover at a nightclub. If you like camping, listening to DJ’s and hip-hop/rap, then this music festival is basically calling your name. Answer to it.

How should I get tickets?

3-day general admission tickets go for $189.50 on the official website, but again, you can always try your luck with cheaper prices on several other sites. The campsite pass will add on another $26+.

What should I wear?

If you’re going to be up and dancing, you’re going to want to be super comfy. But keep in mind that you’ll be living out of a tent. This adorable hoodie will look great with some light-wash denim shorts and some strappy sandals.

4. WeFest (August 6 – 8)

Location: Detriot Lakes, MN

Headliners include: Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert and Rascal Flatts

Welcome to a Mid-West country fan’s dream come true. A weekend filled with country music, camping, and beer. This festival definitely brings in a younger crowd giving off a youthful, care-free vibe all weekend long!

How should I get tickets?

A 3-day general admission ticket goes for $149. A campground ticket will cost another $75, but of course you will split this between you and your friends!

What should I wear?

Western wear, duh. Get out your flannels and overalls; it’s gonna be a wild ride! Yes, I really did just say that.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
