With Black Friday quickly approaching, workers in retail begin to dread the event. Please keep these few things in mind as you and your friends and family go to Black Friday shop.
1. There will be lines, and that is not the workers fault.
When you go to Black Friday, you are guaranteed to stand in line, it is what it is. What it isn't is the cashiers fault. The cashiers and the managers can only do so much at a time, so please do not get angry with us when you have to wait a few minutes.
2. Please don't cause a fight
Do you see the look of terror on the face of the women in the middle? We would love it if we could avoid having those kinds of moments in the store. I know you want your discounted TV, but please don't sacrifice the safety of yourself or other while doing so.
3. We do not get paid enough to hear you all argue
Black Friday is a day that we are all required to work, and we do not get paid enough to witness you argue. We are very willing to help you find what you are looking for, but we do not want to see you argue over who should get the last towel.
4. Your worker would much rather be at home
Your Black Friday employee would much rather be at home. It is Thanksgiving night, after all. But we have been at the store all day, taping lines to the floor, guarding palettes so no one gets in to them early. You may have been able to celebrate your thanksgiving with your family, but we didn't. So please be respectful of all the workers who are giving up their thanksgiving so that you can get some good deals.
