The annual Apple event drew everyone's attention this past week to the new iPhone 7. Usually the first inclination is for everyone to rush to the nearest apple store and purchase the new phone, no questions asked.
However, this year things went a little bit different.
Apple has been innovating the iPhone every year since it came out, but this year it seems they took a step backward.
A long way backward.
According to CNET.com, the retail price for the iPhone 7 would be anywhere from $649 to $849 depending on what memory size you purchase.
That's a big chunk of change.
So in honor of Apple creating a new product, here is a list of four reasons why you should not buy the new iPhone 7:
1. No Headphone jack
If you haven't seen the meme's on twitter already, you're missing out. The biggest shock was that Apple attempted to be 'forward thinking' and remove the headphone jack in an effort to become wireless.
Apple thought that the headphone jack took up too much space in the hardware of the phone, and thought that it could be used to improve other parts of the phone and camera.
This is why the new iPhone is approximately 20% thinner this year. (According to Fox News).
However, by getting rid of the headphone jack, they also got rid of a massive part of their audience. Not may people have wireless headphones, and even less of them want to spend $150 on the new Apple AirPods.
Apple has come up with a solution for this which is a simple adapter for the lightning plug-in, it is merely an adapter for a headphone jack. But there is one major flaw...
What if you want to charge your phone while listening to music as well?
Then you have to use a 'Lightning Splitter Cable' which turns one lightning port into two, and then use the headphone adapter. At this point, you're looking at two adapters, one pair of headphones, and a lightning cable.
How's that 'wireless' effort working out for you, Apple?
2. No Upgraded AMOLDED Display
Apple has been advertising the 'Retina' display for years, and it's the same old thing every year,
This year? The same old 'Retina' display glazes over the phone once more. But guess what?
It can be twenty percent brighter! *Rolls eyes*
If you can show
Many iPhone users were hoping they would finally upgrade to the 4K AMOLDED display to rival those of Android users.
But no dice.
Also, the new iPhone intends to have Sapphire Glass instead of Gorilla Glass.
It almost seems like Apple wants people to break their phones.
According to digitaltrends.com and CNET, over a quarter of iPhone users break their screen within the first year of getting their new device.
Compare that to 8% of Android users and you see why Gorilla Glass is a must for next gen iPhones.
3. OverHyped Camera Upgrades
For all you photographers and Instagram users out there, the new dual wide angle lens has been added to the next gen iPhone 7.
However, if you know anything about the recent phone technology out there right now, Androids and Samsung have been using dual lens technology for the past two years.
In fact, the new Samsung S6, S7, and Note3 Series has a dual camera lens with a finger active sensor, which gives you the ability to track your heartbeat, and effortlessly take photos.
Apple decided to finally upgrade the camera, but not the hardware. The rear camera is still 12 megapixels.
Typical Apple.
4. 6S Price Decline
With the new gen of the iPhone 7 being released, this means that the older gen model iPhones will have a price decline. For the 6 and 6s, the price decline is expected to be anywhere from $100-$300 depending on what model you're looking at.
For this reason, why would anyone want to buy a $700 phone with problems when you can get a $400 phone without these problems and hardware that's just as good.
Especially for all you bargain shoppers out there, this opens up the door for you to finally upgrade that iPhone 5.
The 6s comes with the 12-megapixel camera, the A9 Processing chip, and the m9 motion processor.
These are slightly slower than the iPhone 7's A10 versions, but for a smartphone that's still near the top of the line.
