With Thanksgiving break nearing an end, us college students have three more grueling weeks of class ahead of us. With finals, literally, right around the corner Winter break cannot come soon enough. In order to keep us motivated, here’s a list consisting of the best parts of the coming break to most look forward to.
1. Going Home
I think I speak for most people when I say that a comfortable bed and your own shower is a lot better than a smelly dorm. Not to mention having your mom right down the hall, rather than four states away, is a lovely change. Winter break allows to take a break from being an adult for a little while and actually enjoy being in the place we all wanted out of so badly when leaving for college.
2. Christmas Movies
Cable in dorms is the worst. Nine times out of ten, it doesn't work at all. The other time, it’s fuzzy. Winter break gives us all the opportunity to watch copious amounts Hallmark movies, or even Elf on repeat for a month straight. All of this can be done in your pajamas on your own couch while eating homemade cookies. If that doesn't sound like heaven, I don't know what does.
3. Food
Does this one need explaining? A home cooked meal beats dining hall food…Always. There’s nothing I’m dreading more than leaving home to return to questionable meats for the next 3 weeks. Knowing that we’ll be comfortably sitting at our own tables in just under a month, enjoying edible food should be plenty of motivation to keep us going until mid-December.
4. A Month of No Work
Winter break: the end of the first semester. For the first time in four months, we have no homework due, papers to write, or exams to study for. We can binge watch Netflix to our heart’s content without feeling a tinge of regret.
