1. The Setting
The movie takes place at the University of Texas, which gears the movie towards college students from age 18 to 23. It also shows the couple around campus, in their apartments, and at college parties, which makes it relatable.
2. Appearance
Mel (Taissa Farmiga) is dressed in comfy, cute. casual clothes during the movie, and her hair is always shiny and long, which makes us girls very jealous of her. Dan (Ben Rosenfield) is a hot, muscular boy with floppy, curly hair that really works for him. Both characters are just good looking enough that we want to be them rather than resent them.
3. Romance
The way that Mel and Dan act when they are in a relationship is the cute lovey-dovey way all girls want with a boy that good-looking. Their fights are passionate and scary, but their problems are so real that many college kids can relate to them as their own.
4. Music
The playlist that was chosen gives off indy, artsy vibes, which is how the movie is displayed too. My favorite song from it is "Glazin," by the Jacuzzi Boys, which I recommend you listen to.
