The holidays are known as being a happy time where everyone is just a little nicer and more giving. Of course, it's also known as the time for buying gifts. But why not combine them? Here are just a few places where you can find the perfect gift and help out a good cause at the same time.

1. B. Toys

Buy a toy for a child and help other children - that's what B. Toys is all about. A portion of the sales from every toy goes to WE Charity (formerly known as Free The Children), a charity that was started in 1995 by 12-year-old Craig Kielburger. According to the B. Toys website, their goal is "to free children from poverty and exploitation and free young people from the notion that they are powerless to effect positive change." Their accomplishments include building over 650 schools and providing education to 50,000 children.

B. Toys can be found in a variety of specialty stores. But you can find where a particular toy is available near you by going to their website here.

2. Bead for Life

Not only can you get beautiful jewelry from this awesome nonprofit organization, you can also help women in Uganda get out of poverty. The program provides women with an income by teaching them to make the jewelry. They also give them entrepreneurial training so that one day they can stop making jewelry and instead start their own business.

To check out their one of a kind jewelry and to find out more about what they do and how they do it, you can visit their website right here.

3. Society B

Society B offers a wide variety of items - women's goods, men's goods, home items, accessories, baby goods and toys. This "marketplace for good" was created by two sisters (Lindsay Byers-Hirth and Kelli Byers) who dreamed of starting a company that donated part of its profits to charity.

According to the website, they " thoroughly vet the best social businesses and feature only our favorite fair trade goods and products that give back. And to put our money where our mouth is, we multiply your social impact by also donating 10% of our sales (not just profits) to a featured charity." You can check out their products here.

4. Sudara

Sudara's goal is to help end sexual slavery - specifically in India - although now their outreach is beginning to grow to other areas as well. Here is how they help do that according to the website:

To do that, it’s essential that we break the cycle for generations to come. That’s why, in addition to our Sudara products which provide training and jobs for the women who make them, we also have a non-profit arm that allows us to provide for those same women across their entire ecosystem.

You can find women, men and children's clothing as well as accesories and more right here.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
