Random Acts of Kindness

Hello All!

This week I have been thinking, as I very often do, about the overall meaning of life... I have found one of the most important things is service and love to others. Not only is it rewarding, inspiring, and all around good for you it can also be extremely simple!

Here are some quick, easy, and efficient random acts of kindness.

They are so easy, I am going to make it a point to do every single one in these upcoming weeks, anyone want to join me?

1. The Dollar-Leave- Behind

I am personally one savvy shopper, and sometimes I think I am a borderline TLC-type cheapskate. I LOVE almost anything costing only a dollar and I have been scouring the internet for some of the cheapest, effective, and interesting acts of kindness. Leaving a dollar behind would purchase an entire item for someone. This act of kindness is most definitely popular and it fits the bill of what I was searching for. This one is most definitely on my personal To Do List. Is is on yours?

Here are some examples:

2. Opening the Door for Someone

This one is important, and some may consider it a standard event. From my perspective, it is truly a heart-melting, day-making, smile-breaking type of occurrence.

Here are Some Examples:

Also, another "act of kindness" might be simply thanking the person for holding the door for you

3. Write a Letter or Leave a Note

I am a HUGE fan of writing notes/ letters and leaving things for people to find. I am notorious for utilizing the quill pen I got for my birthday for writing notes of many kinds. Your notes can be long, short, tall, skinny, of any type of variety.

PS. One of my favorite versions of this is leaving a note for the mailman.

Here are some Examples:

For the mailman:

For Yourself:

Who says you don't deserve an act of kindness every now and again?

4. Put a Coupon With a Product at a Store

As the cheapskate I am, I LOVE coupons. I use them for everything I can. I mean I find coupons for prescriptions even... so there is no telling how happy I would be to find a coupon. In addition, it is so easy to find coupons, and not to mention FREEEE.

Here is an Example:

5. Call or Visit a Friend you Normally Wouldn't

This one is very easy, and effective. We all know how you feel when a friend calls you out of the blue just to say " I Love You".... WONDERFUL

Here is and example:

6. Make Something for Someone

This could be anything! Maybe you could make a care and knock out number three simultaneously. Or maybe you can utilize a talent you have. For this one I made two of my sorority sisters necklaces out of rocks, wire, etc.

Here is one of my friends in a necklace I gave her in a photo I took of her:)

7. The Give away

I don't care what it is... it could be a teddy bear your ex boyfriend gave to you that makes you sick every time you see it... you can make a difference with even the smallest donation.

I haven't figured out what I am giving away...

Here is a photo of you donating that ex-boyfriend teddy bear of yours... metaphorically

8. The Volunteer

You could volunteer for something you normally wouldn't, such as showing up early to an event to help set up, or staying to help tear down. You could volunteer for anything, there is such a plethora.

Here is a link to a website that can link you with good volunteer opportunities for you in the Wichita area:

9. Blessings Bag

You can go to the dollar store and purchase things that come in packets, and split them up into a few different bags such as zip-lock bags and hand those out to anyone. I would suggest someone homeless or in need, but anyone works.

Here is a list of some things that would be great: non-perishable food, water, hand sanitizer, etc.

Here is an Example:

10. The Visit

Visit Your Local Fire or Police Department ( You could bring a treat too). This is just a way of showing your appreciation, support, and care for them as human beings especially in light of recent events. I actually went to my local grocery store and found a huge batch of Halloween cupcakes on sale and got them and brought them to my Andover Police Station today. It was such a wonderful experience and opportunity.

Here are Some Photos from my Experience:

Thank You so much for reading! I would love it if you have any suggestions if you would let me know! If you want to join me in this small journey of mine, I would love to have you!

Blessings.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
