Soon the leaves will start changing colors, apples will be ready for picking, bugs will return back to the hell once they came from, and more importantly it will be HALLOWEEN!!!! For all of you true Halloween fanatics, you’ve probably already planned out (or purchased) your costume and are now looking for the perfect places to visit this Halloween season. If you’re willing to go on an adventure and try something new, here are some places that you definitely have to visit this year:

The Great Jack O’ Lantern Blaze (Croton-on-Hudson, NY)

Pumpkin lovers of all ages will be blown away when they visit The Great Jack O’ Lantern Blaze. There are over 7,000 illuminated jack o' lanterns, all designed and individually hand-carved on site. Tickets range in price from $25-$16, be sure to get them early cause this event sells out fast!

Horseman’s Hollow (Sleepy Hollow, NY)

Most of us have heard the tale of the headless horseman at one point in our lives. Whether we heard the legend in school around Halloween or we’ve seen the Tim Burton film Sleepy Hollow. Nonetheless the real town of Sleepy Hollow really gets into the spirit of Halloween with haunted hayrides, cemetery tours, and much more. Horseman’s Hollow takes place at the Philipsburg Manor. The manor is transformed into horror filled landscape with all sorts of creatures, including an appearance from the Headless Horseman himself. This event is not recommended for young children. Ticket prices range between $25-$15.

Count Orlok’s Nightmare Gallery (Salem, MA)

Horror movie fanatics definitely have to take a trip to Count Orlok’s this Halloween season. There are autographed posters and beautifully crafted full sized movie monsters. Photography is not allowed in the gallery and the gallery’s website has only a few images of the figures inside, making it even harder to resist a visit out there to see it for yourself. Tickets range from $8-$6, could you get a better deal?!

Blood Manor (New York, NY)

What has been described as one of the most intense haunted houses in New York City, Blood Manor is approximately 5,000 square feet of themed rooms, corridors, and a labyrinth of passageways. This place is so intense that the website recommends that children under 14 should not visit Blood Manor. This place is so intense that there are a number of emergency exits located throughout the house in case visitors get too freaked out. Did I mention it takes about 15-20 minutes to get through? Enter at your own risk; tickets start at about $30.

Get out there and get your scare on fellow Halloween lovers.

When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
