Let’s face it: the generic, hot spots in Texas get pretty outdated and overused. Although there are new additions every year at the Dallas Arboretum or State Fair, tourists and locals alike fawn over the major attractions that many of them forget the small yet stunningly beautiful places that make Texas so great!
Looking for new places to go? Possible date ideas? New locations to take cute pictures at? Check out these hidden gems!
1. Texas Tulips
Lately, these tulip fields have been getting major attention, but they haven’t been annually praised for how gorgeous they are. Roughly 25 minutes away from Denton, Texas, Texas Tulips can be found on 10656 FM 2931 Pilot Point, TX 76258. This place is a perfect location for photography sessions and senior pictures! But wait, the beauty of these fields get better than that. To make the visit even more engaging and family friendly, from 9 a.m.- 7:30 p.m., you can also handpick from among 40 different tulip varieties and customize your own bouquet. However, be wary of the narrow harvest season. These tulips blossom and get picked within a short time frame, from February 25-March 25.
2. Dragon Park
The iconic animal statues and sculptures give this park distinct uniqueness and character. On 3520 Cedar Springs Road, Oak Lawn, Texas, this area looks like a lush oasis with many meditative spots. There is an antique elegance to Dragon Park because unlike many other parks, this park is adorned with unstructured landscaping. It is definitely a great park for candid pictures.
3. Fort Worth Water Gardens
Although this location isn’t new or unrecognized, I think the Fort Worth Water Gardens are still underdogs to the notorious places such as the Botanical Gardens, Bishop Arts District or the Dallas Museum of Art. Aside from the obvious beauty that this location has, there is obvious art where the designing architects described it as a, “Cooling oasis in the concrete jungle.” Go check it out: 1600 Commerce Street, Fort Worth, Texas 76102!
4. Thanksgiving Square
Located in the City Center District of Dallas, this area has a must-see structure called the “Glory Window.” It is a spiral of stained glass art inside Chapel of Thanksgiving. With many a “Golden Rule” mosaic and many calming waterway landscaping outside, this general region gives homage to faiths and religions. But it gets better! Below the garden, the Dallas Pedestrian Network connects adjacent buildings. Retail spaces and restaurants are lined along the passageways— a great place for a date! Visit this square at 1627 Pacific Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75201.
