It's the time of year that makes me happy for two reasons: 1) being the literary nerd that I am, Iloveto get my hands on new books and 2) going to movies is actually my favorite pastime. Therefore when books become film, I get super excited. If anyone else shares this, then here are four flicks that you're not going to want to miss! Oh, and read the bookfirst, okay?

1. Nerve

Book: “Nerve” by Jeanne Ryan

Summary: Vee is picked as a player for NERVE, an online game where people send in requests called dares for them to complete. She's paired up with Ian, and the two must find out if they're willing to put it all on the line to win.


Movie: starring Emma Roberts and Dave Franco––in theaters July 27, 2016

Details: Emma Roberts plays Venus "Vee" Delmonico, the main protagonist. Dave Franco has the role of Ian, Venus' partner in the game. Juliette Lewis also stars as Vee's mother. Filming took place in NYC in mid-2015.

2. The Girl on the Train

Book: “The Girl on the Train” by Paula Hawkins

Summary: Rachel is a lonely divorcee whose alcoholism poisoned her marriage to Tom. When she's fired from her job, she takes a train in London every day to avoid telling her roommate of the news. Also avoiding her ex-husband's new wife and child, she people watches a couple a few doors down. But when that wife disappears, can Rachel even trust what she saw to help find her?


Movie: starring Emily Blunt––in theaters October 7, 2016

Details: Emily Blunt plays the role of Rachel, the girl on the train. Justin Theroux is Tom, Rachel's ex-husband. His new wife Anna is played by Rebecca Ferguson, and new couple Megan and Scott are played by Haley Bennett and Luke Evans, respectively. Filming was moved from the UK to the US in late 2015.

3. Before I Fall

Book: “Before I Fall” by Lauren Oliver

Summary: February 12 was supposed to be just another day in Samantha Kingston's charmed high school life. But when she's in a car wreck after a party that night, everything changes. Sam realizes that she must relive the same day over and over again to correct her mistakes. Of those she harmed include her old friend Kent, loner Juliet Sykes and queen bee Lindsay. Will she be able to right her wrongs? Or will it be too late?


Movie: starring Zoey Deutsch and Halston Sage––release date TBD, slated for late 2016

Details: Zoey Deutsch will star as Sam Kingston while Halston Sage will play Lindsay. Kent will be portrayed by Logan Miller and Juliet will be played by Elena Kampouris. Filming took place in Canada and finished in December 2015.

4. Inferno

Book: “Inferno” (Dante's Inferno #3) by Dan Brown

Summary: Robert Langdon is a history scholar who specializes in symbolism that is being plagued by visions of a mask. He finds links in “Dante'sInfernotext and is eager to put the pieces together to solve the mystery.


Movie: starring Tom Hanks––in theaters October 28, 2016

Details: Tom Hanks reprises his role as Robert Langdon and Felicity Jones plays Dr. Sierra Banks, who helps him escape from the hospital he wakes up in. Filming took place in Italy and Budapest between April and July of 2015.
