Everyone has that artist or band that, when they see them perform, they almost lose it and break down into tears because they just love them so much.

For me it's Pentatonix.

Anyone who is close to me knows that I am obsessed with Pentatonix, as I rarely have a conversation in which I don't mention them. In fact, my whole family loves Pentatonix. We have followed them since the beginning.

We first became obsessed when they competed on, and were the winners of, the competition "The Sing Off," the since-canceled a capella competition show on NBC. (I am still hoping for a revival) Our obsession has continued to grow ever since. However, why do I and my family (plus millions of others) love this group so much? Why will I name drop them when I'm provided with even the tiniest opportunity? Here are a couple reasons.

1. They Are Trend Setters

While many a capella groups have gotten close to reaching the masses, look up Straight No Chaser, no group has gotten as far as Pentatonix. Ever since they won "The Sing Off" their popularity has increased, thus reaching the broadest audience that an a capella group has ever reached. Through their Youtube channel, their Netflix documentary "On My Way Home" (following the group during their 2015 tour), their albums (including their hit Christmas album: "That's Christmas to Me"), and a cameo appearance as Team Canada in Pitch Perfect 2, Pentatonix has made its presence known. Now, the average Joe is also aware of this type of music and it's not just fans of the performing arts or people who like a capella music. Instead of being part of an obscure genre, Pentatonix has brought a capella to the mainstream, which is extremely impressive.

2. Their Flawless Voices And Arrangements

I dare you to look up Pentatonix on Youtube. If you do you, then you will get stuck staring at the screen for hours and listening to all of their different arrangements of various songs. Their sound is innovative and creative in many ways, but two reasons stand out to me. The first is that all that they are using for their arrangements are their voices and they arrange the songs in such a way that you have to keep reminding yourself that you are listening to people, not physical instruments. The second is the creative way in which they overlay different songs. For instance, who would have thought that "Winter Wonderland" and "Don't Worry, Be Happy" would flow so well together? If you want to be especially mind-blown in this aspect, look up their 2015 medley of "Daft Punk" songs (for which they won a Grammy that year for "Best Arrangement - Instrumental or A Capella"). Also, I would take a look at some of their old performances from "The Sing Off," because even if those are not their best performances, they are still great and it's fun to see where they first started.

3. Their Christmas Album

If you haven't listened to this album (titled "That's Christmas to Me") yet, I beg you to do so. While a good amount of the songs on the album are classics, the way in which they are arranged might as well make them completely new tunes. This creativity reflects well on their marketing, for they sold about 1.5 million copies from October to the end of the 2014, making it the 4th best selling album of the year. However, you don't need a platinum record (which they also received for this album) to see (or, I guess, hear) the greatness of "That's Christmas to Me." For the past two Christmases I have listened to this album non-stop and I have not been tired of it once, something that's unusual for me. My personal favorite is the namesake of the album, "That's Christmas to Me," which is a powerful ballad about the meaning of Christmas that I, among many others, can personally relate to.

4. Superfruit

While the group has its own Youtube channel, Superfruit is a comedy series on Youtube that features two Pentatonix's members (and best friends), Scott Hoying and Mitch Grassi. This web series gives Pentatonix fans an opportunity to personally connect with their favorite a capella group, as it gives them a chance to see what Scott and Mitch's personalities are really like. Also, their actual videos will keep you interested for hours. Some videos focus more on singing (can anyone say, "Hip hop goes Broadway?") while others focus more on comedy (look up "What am I Kissing? (feat. Victoria Justice)"). Really, with Superfruit, there is no way that you can't win.

It is these four things (plus many more, but I'm going to stop while I'm ahead) that make me love Pentatonix so much and I hope that this article will inspire you to go look them up and get hooked as well. Trust me--it's a healthy obsession.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
