4 Lessons That "The Gilmore Girls" Taught Me

Gilmore Girls is the show that I think most women in there 20's would say they have seen every episode of and have an argument about weather Rory should of stayed with Dean or moved on to Jess. They love Luke and how much he was always there for Lorlia and how every person was thanking God their grandma was not Emily. It's the reason why they started to quote movies, tv shows and songs in everyday conversation. But what is even better about Gilmore Girls is all of the lessons that they have taught us.

1. A Mother Daughter Relationship

Lorlie and Rory were best friends, they had each other through everything that you could ever imagine. Even when they were angry with each other and were not speaking, they still cared and missed each other. Rory supported her mom just as much as her mom supported her.

2. The Need For A Community

Rory had a whole town who loved and supported her. They watched her grow up from a little girl into the women who was going to travel with the political campaign. For most people, you do not have a whole town but you have your family, teachers, close friends and some people that you meet along the way who just are about seeing you succeed. The people who are there in every storm.

3. You have to live every minute

Logan was always pushing Rory outside her comfort zone. Showing her there is more to life than books, good grades and just getting by with life. He opened her eyes to the idea of accepting things even if they do not go your way and being willing to do new things, to changes to a life with adventures. Not everyone has that person but living a life that makes you feel like living and being ready for anything.

4. Sometimes You Have To Find Yourself

Rory was told she did not have what it took to be a reporter- the dream she had all of her life. When she felt like she had no other choice, like she had all her dreams crushed, she took time off of school. During this time she lived with her grandparents because her mom was furious with her for not going to school and she worked for the Daughters of American Revolution. She had to figure out what she was doing so she kind of had to do a detour with her life. Not knowing what you want in your life at every point of it is okay. When you just can not handle everything going on and just need to take a step back and think is this really for me.

Gilmore Girls is a show that you can watch over and over again and hear lines that you still love, new lines that you love and new reasons to love a character. But Gilmore Girls gave me the idea that life is not perfect and sometimes you need the support system and to fail before you can rise and over come everything.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
