August signifies the end of flings, summer, and warmth. But as summer starts coming to a cool end, we have something to look forward to: FESTIVALS. Yes, it's festival season once again. So mark your calendars and prepare yourself for trying loads of new foods and booze. Foodies and boozies in Columbus can rejoice. After all, who needs June and July when you have these August Festivals to look forward to?
1. Columbus Gin and Vodka Festival: August 19
Is it hot in here, or am I just thirsty? Two of life's greatest pleasures, gin and vodka, are coming together in a festival at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. You can taste local and renowned Gins and Vodkas either straight or in a yummy cocktail. Rumor has it there will be a flair bartender showing off his mad bartending/bottle-throwing/cocktail-shaking skills and WNCI 97.9's Chris Davis will be hosting this tasty event.
2. Festival Latino: August 12-13
Filled with dancing, festive music, and delicious Latin American food, Festival Latino is back in Columbus for its 21st year. This weekend will feature live performances including Charlie Cruz, Bachata Heightz, and Toño Rosario. Whether you like Merengue, Salsa dancing, or flavorful Latin food, this fest will be a great place to start off August and appreciate Latin culture.
3. Dublin Irish Festival: August 4-6
If you can't fly out to Ireland, the Dublin Irish Festival comes close enough. Filled with Irish dancing, food, and songs, you'll think you were in Dublin, Ireland and not Dublin, Ohio (especially after a beer or two). Compliment your Irish jig with an Irish jug of Guinness. Charming accents, dark stouts, and cheery tunes: what more could you want?
4. Park Street Festival: August 25-26
Park Street is the home of some of Columbus' favorite dining and drinking spots. It's not a surprise Park Street is also home of one of the best festivals in town. Park Street Cantina, Brothers, and other bars on the lively street will be participating, as well as various food and drink vendors. Some say the spirit of Columbus is on Park Street. One thing is for sure; the whole of Columbus will be on Park Street.
