If you've lived in Greensboro for any length of time as a teenager, you've at some point said, "there's nothing to do in this city; we need to change the name to Greensboring." But if you think about it Greensboro has some really fun places to hangout or visit. These are my top 4 hangout spots in Greensboro.
4. Battleground park/Country Park
Everyone in Greensboro has either visited this park or driven by it, but when it comes to hanging out nobody seems to remember it. Apart from being an awesome historic site, these parks are awesome to bike/walk through! To make Them even more fun you can bring some friends along with you and you can play Frisbee or throw a football around. No matter what you decide to do these parks are always an option for fun.
3. Friendly Shopping Center
This is another destination in Greensboro that is commonly visited, but I feel that it is often forgotten as a hangout spot. It carries a wonderful variety of fun stops such as a frozen yogurt bar, Barnes and Noble, and even Toys & Co can be a fun spot to stop in as you walk around this shopping center. If you go in the afternoon you can walk around for an hour or so and then stop by the movie theater in the evening to continue the fun.
2. Geeksboro/The Green Bean
Coffee shops are always a good idea as a hangout spot. These two are some of the best I've ever been to and they just happen to be in my home city. Geeksboro is not only a coffee shop, but a game center and a movie theater as well. They have an array of various game consoles with multiple games and they also carry a lot of board games too. They occasionally show a good motion picture as well and you can find their movie schedules on their website. The Green Bean is more of a plain coffee shop, but they have some good food and some even better coffee and their two locations are in some areas where you can walk around and find another activity after you finish your coffee.
1. The Science Center
This is often thought of as a kids play place, but it has become so much more. The Sci-quarium is really, really cool and they are in the process of expanding it so it is going to be even better. They have also recently opened a ropes course called Sky Wild which is relatively expensive, but well worth it. There are always events and activities happening at the Science Center it's difficult for me to keep up. For all the dinosaur fans out there, they have closed and taken down the old dinosaur room, but don't fret! they're are building a whole new one and I can personally say it will be 10x better than the original.
I hope you find this useful and I hope this can help reignite the fun in Greensboro.
