Thankfully, before the harsh reality of endless amounts of assignments and all-nighters kicks in, we are blessed with one beautiful thing as we start another semester: syllabus week. It's the best time of the year, and the worst time of the year. It's the week of dipping your toes in the water before your professors shove you in, and the week where you try to convince yourself that dining hall food isn't that different from your mom's cooking. Syllabus week is a giant mess of mixed emotions that seem to repeat themselves every time it rolls around, and you'll probably find yourself thinking some of the following things.
1. It's. So. Early.
2. Why did I sign up for this?
3. Should I even go to class today?
4. No. Yes. OK, I'm going.
5. At least it's the first day of class, so there won't be any actual teaching. Right?
6. Wrong.
7. Yep, I'm dropping this class right this second. I can't do this.
8. I need to switch into a different class and none of them are open? Rude. They don't even know what I'm going through right now.
9. Maybe I should pay attention.
10. An attendance policy? You can only miss three classes? This isn't happening.
11. The textbook is mandatory? Oh this is so not happening. We'll see about that, pal.
12. Thank God that's over.
13. Wow, I forgot how much I hate walking.
14. My legs are already tired.
15. Maybe I'll go out tonight.
16. But that 8 a.m. tomorrow...
17. Why did I sign up for that again?
18. Whatever. I'm going out.
19. I need water, ibuprofen and a new schedule please.
20. Those 8 a.m. classes were created by the devil.
21. I'm gonna need coffee to get through this.
22. But the Starbucks line is so long. Whatever, I'm going.
23. Starbucks line trumps the 8:00 a.m.
24. And I'm gonna be late.
25. And the only open seat is in the front.
26. I'm turning around and leaving. I can't do this.
27. I'm sorry, bed. I'll never leave you again.
28. You're way more important than class.
29. I'll never put class before you or Netflix again, I'm so sorry.
30. Wow I'm not very good at this whole "school" thing.
31. I wonder how my parents will react when I tell them that I'm dropping out to work on the streets.
32. No, focus. This will be the semester that you get your life together.
33. That's right. I'm gonna go out less and study more and get a 4.0 and find true love.
33. Actually, probably not, but it's the thought that counts, right?
34. Right?
Welcome back, college students. May the odds (and the hangovers) be ever in your favor.
