I’ve been in college for a little less than a month and I couldn’t feel more at home than I do right here. No matter where you’re coming from, college will come as a shocker to you in one aspect or another. Here is all that I have learned from my first month of college.
- Two dudes on the back of a moped = Broped
- Sleep is a wonderful thing
- Freshman fifteen can be beat
- Even 9 ams are miserable
- Taking the maximum number of credit hours allowed your first semester in college isn’t always the best idea
- You don’t have to ask for your humanly right to use the bathroom while in class
- Life is a million times better when you’re not going to school for 7-8 hours a day, then sports practices, then meeting with clubs, then doing an addition 7-8 hours of homework and studying
- So. Many. Amenities.
- Exams don’t just happen at the end of a term, but also throughout the semester
- Living in a college town is a blessing
- You basically have to sell a kidney to afford textbooks.
- It’s perfectly acceptable to roll out of bed and show up to class
- There’s no dress-code lady there to yell at you about how “leggings aren’t pants,” and "your skirt is too short.”
- High school really did suck
- Accounting is a horrible class and anyone who takes it for ‘fun’ needs to re-evaluate their life
- No amount of Chick-fil-a will ever compare to Momma’s homemade cookin’
- Opting to use the stairs as opposed to taking the elevator is exercise in and of itself. Especially when you live on the top floor and have a 20+ pound book bag to carry.
- No amount of AP classes could ever had prepared me for college as much as IB did
- The gym is a great place to relieve stress
- Having to pay for printing is awful, more so when your professor makes you print off your textbook
- If you stick to solely cafeteria food, you will eventually lose weight
- Chegg.com, textbooks.com,
mazon book rentals, etc. are a gift from God - Quizlet and Khan Academy = New best friends
- Debits on the left, Credits on the right
- Learning to do things on my own (laundry, cook, clean, sew, etc.) was the best thing I could have ever invested my time in
- Learning how to budget BEFORE I came to school was the second best things I could have ever invested my time in
- So many kids don’t have basic life skills
- High school should worry about teaching kids these basic life skills instead of the pythagorean theorem, which I have yet to use in day to day life
- Getting to have a summer without summer work is the best thing in the world (my school made us complete numerous assignments every summer from second grade on up)
- Living in a non-judgemental environment can do wonders for your soul
- WiFi that is accessible anywhere on campus is not something to be taken for granted
- Unfiltered internet is also pretty great (My high school blocked Sparknotes, Facebook, Cliffnotes, etc. from being used on campus).
- Not having mom and dad right next door is a blessing and a curse
- College really is the best time I’ve had in life so far
