Recently, I had a friend entrust me with the task of touching up and transforming her faded, bleached green ombre hair into a lush waterfall of cobalt blue and violet locks. Why did she trust me to do this? I have no idea. I mean, I have done my own hair and a few friends' hair in the past, but when it really comes down to it, I have no idea what I'm doing. Let me walk through my thought process during this time.
1. Okay this should be simple.
2. Wait, just kidding. Where do I start?
3. Oh thank goodness there are instructions.
4. Shoot why are the instructions in SPANISH?
5. Okay calm down the English is on the back side.
6. So I just pour this into that...no problemo.
7. Crap, I spilled some.
8. OK, here we go!
9. Is this mixture supposed to smell like death?
10. YOLO!
11.Well, uh, the instructions say to leave it on for about 30 minutes...40 it is!
12. The way I wrapped her hair makes it look like she has a tail.
13. TIME IS UP!
14. Wow, not as bad as I expected!
15. Now, I'm just going to help her rinse all the bleach out.
16. OMG I'M SO SORRY I THINK I JUST SPRAYED YOUR FACE!
17. OK, now we're all rinsed, dried and brushed through. On to the color!
18. What a gross, gloopy consistency this blue dye is.
19. This is so art. I'm an artist now.
20. Can I put this on my resume?
21. I'm so hungry.
22. Oh no, oh no, oh no, I got it on the toilet.
23. Please don't fail me, soap and sponge!
24. Finished with the dye!
25. I have battle scars of blue and purple streaks on my arms now.
26. Please work, please work, please work...
27. SUCCESS!
28. YOU REALLY LIKE IT? DON'T LIE TO ME!
29. Wow, maybe I should just drop out of school and pursue hair coloring.
30. OK, wait never mind.
31. Come back! I forgot to do a section!
32. NOW we're finished.
33. My work here is done.
In all seriousness, even though there were a few mini heart attacks along the way, it was an absolute pleasure and a lot of fun doing my friend's hair! The results were not absolutely flawless, but it was a great experience. Hit me up if you want your hair done :)
