At the beginning of the new year I decided I wanted to be apart of Greek life and go through spring recruitment. After an exciting recruitment week and bid day, I was able to call myself a new member of Alpha Gamma Delta! Becoming a new member in a sorority is filled with all sorts of emotions: excitement and happiness but overwhelming and nerve wrecking at the same time. Here are 32 thoughts after becoming a new member as told by a new member:

When you roll up on Bid Day...

1. DID I GET A BID?! I GOT A BID. OH MY GOODNESS! I AM RUNNING HOME!

2. HELLO! HI! I AM HOME!

3. Wow, wow, wow!

4. Let's take pictures, LOTS of pictures of this special, once in a lifetime moment. These are so going on Facebook and Instagram!

5. I am so happy!

6. Sisters everywhere!

7. “Oh hi there! Nice to meet you!”

8. I am not going to remember all of these names…

9. So many sisters.

10. Wait, bid day is already over?

11. Ugh, wow! I am so in love with all of my sisters and Alpha Gamma Delta already.

12. I need to sleep but I can't. I am beyond excited to get involved.

The day after Bid Day...

13. *Wake up flawless as a new member of AGD*

14. WAIT, I AM AN ALPHA GAMMA DELTA! I AM A SQUIRREL GIRL.

15. Breathe, just another day going through the regular routine.

16. WOAH. So so so MANY Instagram follows and Facebook friend request.

17. Love my sisters so much but I need to start learning names.

18. Oh hey, an email from my new member educator.

19. So many things to do and events to go to.

20. I need to go to the New Chapter meeting... I don't know what I am doing.

21. I CAN DO THIS.

22. I feel so different.

23. AH! I can't get over that I am a new member of AGD!

At your first chapter meeting...

24. Hey new members! How are y'all doing?

25. Awe, my new member educator is the cutest thing ever and made an adorable PowerPoint.

26. Woah, there is a lot of information in this PowerPoint...

27. A TEST?! WHAT?!

28. I need to update my closet ASAP for chapter.

29. More events and activities?! I need a bigger planner. No, I need more than just one planner.

30. There is another new member meeting with MORE information next Sunday...

31. This is only the beginning...

32. Uh oh... What did I get myself into?

I love my sisters, what we stand for, and our ethics and values. I love that I decided I wanted to be apart of Greek life and went through with it. I love being a new member of Alpha Gamma Delta! I don't regret any of my choices. Even though it has been a lot to take in at first, I know I have all of my sisters there for me and it will be all worth it in the end.
