32 Reasons To Come To Theta 5K

This Saturday April 8th, Texas A&M Kappa Alpha Theta will be hosting the 32nd Annual Rock The CASA Theta 5K! The event starts at 9 am and is a 3.1 mile fun run or 1.5 mile walk. This is the perfect Saturday morning work out to kick off parent's weekend, so grab some friends and come on out!! Not convinced yet? Here's 32 reasons why YOU should come Rock the CASA:

1. What else would you be doing at 9 AM on a Saturday morning?

2. Breakfast will be provided for a post run feast (followed by a post feast nap).

3. There will be Thetas dancing in tutus!

4. Sweet music and a pump-up dance party to get you HYPED for those 3.1 miles !!!

5. AMAZING silent auction items, including a Golden Retriever puppy, a Myles Garrett autographed football, David Yurman jewelry, and Cowboys tickets!

6. CASA, Theta's national philanthropy, provides a court appointed special advocate to abused and neglected children in foster care. The Brazos Valley branch, Voices for Children, provides a CASA for 100% of the kids in Brazos, Burleson and Grimes counties.

7. Our local philanthropy, Scotty's House, is a child advocacy center based out of Bryan, TX. Scotty's House provides a safe environment for kids who were abused to tell their story and receive medical attention and therapy.

8. Funny signs to motivate you to keep going.

9. Be fit and fun while running to make a difference in a child's life.

10. If you're in another sorority, grab your friends, get in a morning work out, and get that Panhellenic point!!

11. Not a rumor, this is the best fitness class offered this week.

12. If you live on the row, you'll be woken up anyways by the girls of 1503 Athens. So you might as well be productive!

13. Not into running? That's OK - we also offer a 1.5-mile walk!

16. It's Child Abuse Awareness month - come out and make a difference.

17. Can't come, but still want to support? Buy a t-shirt at the MSC this week!

18. Rumor has it, the Yell Leaders will be there.

19. Rock the CASA while getting fit for summer!

21. You can bring your dogs to walk with you!

22. Do you love roller blading? WE DO, TOO! Blade at 5K!!

23. It's a chance to ensure to your parents that you don't just sit at home watching Netflix (which you totally do).

24. Got a ring dunk this weekend? Work off that dunk with Theta 5K!

25. Speaking of rings, this is the puuuuurfect opportunity to show off your new bling!

26. See familiar faces and make new friends all in one place.

27. For the third time, THERE WILL BE FOOD. Including fruit, granola bars, donuts, kolaches, Whataburger taquitos and honey butter chicken biscuits, and COFFEE. I really can't emphasize food enough.

28. Sad you can't come? Buy a raffle ticket for $10 to win a sweet prize!

29. The pre-race dance party is the perfect time to showcase your new dance moves!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register.
