I recently made the jump of living off campus.
And boy, have I learned quite a bit.
The #1 thing I've learned is how you got to check the weather for yourself rather than relying on a hallmate yelling to everybody that it's pouring outside. So if I fail to ask Siri what the forecast will be and it starts pouring while I'm on campus, then I have to fight the storm with what I've got.
So, wondering if there are civilians who are in the same boat as me, I ventured out into the world of the internet.
On social media, I asked some fellow Liberty University peers what they learned when living off campus. Some were surprised of what they have learned and others truly know the meaning of a #struggle.
And this is what I got.
1. "Adulting isn't that hard." - Kate E.
2. But..."You still don't really feel like an adult." - Lydia J.

8. "Contrary to popular belief, Netflix is your friend." - Rachel C.
9. "You learn how to become wife/husband material for your roommate." - Shannon A.
10. "Learn how to deal with a roommate without an RA or SLC to mediate." -Amanda K.
11. "I cannot cook to save my life." -Jordan S.
12. "Eating healthy is harder when you're the one paying for the groceries." - Shannon P.

19. "The moment when your roommate invites her guy friends over for a movie night and you forgot that you don't live in a girl's only dorm anymore so 'man on the hall' isn't a thing and towels aren't suitable attire." - Caitlyn B
20. "You're going to see a lot of the same faces around your building. Learn to say hi!" - Kat C.
.
21. "If you forget to put toilet paper back on the roll, it's no one else's fault but your own." -Michelle R.
22. "Pets are hard to feed on your $5 a week budget, but you get them anyways and they become your (only) best friend." - Laura K.
23. "If you play guitar and sing on the sidewalk on campus, it's a mating call; off campus, it's panhandling." - Xela H.
24. "Don't be afraid to do something by yourself. Be smart about it though." - Liz B.
25. "You won't know anything about campus activities unless you personally go looking for them." - Candace A.

28. "Boys are dirty, still." - Tyanna N.

30. "Saying goodbye to your friends because they still live on campus and have to make it back by curfew like, 'WAHHH JUST MOVE IN WITH MEEEE.'" -Jaclyn W.
However, even though #adulting is a #struggle, we are all so thankful for where we are and strive to make the best of it!
