30 Things That Stress Me Out

What do you call the time between midterms and final exams? Stressful. If you're anything like me, you know that dead week is nothing compared to the feeling you get when procrastination of group projects, assignments and essays come creeping up. At this stage so late in the semester, it's the small things that add up and stress me out more. Cue Twenty One Pilot's song "Stressed Out" while reading a list of 30 things that stress me out when I'm already stressed out.

1. When your group presentation is this week and the other group members haven't replied to any of your emails.

2. Deciding between going grocery shopping or ordering take-out

3. Telling yourself to finish an assignment, but not actually making time to do it

5. Going out and having a good time until you realize that you have to go back home

6. Hiding candles and vacuuming the floor for room inspections

7. Making a cup of tea to find that one of your housemates drank your milk

8. Coming up with a cough, because nobody has the time to get sick

9. Debating whether or not to treat yourself on vacation

10. Feeling guilty when you do

11. Once again dreading coming back to all the work

12. When your go-to movies aren't satisfying your Netflix needs

13. When your go-to songs aren't putting you in the right mood

16. Thinking about the announcement of the next President of the United States being announced soon

17. Forgetting to take your vitamins in the morning

18. Hoping that you get the override in the class you need to take to graduate on time

19. Knowing that it's getting colder and snow will soon be here

20. Worrying about how other college students take care of their dogs and fish when you can't even keep a plant alive

21. Realizing that college is almost over

22. Having everything checked off the college bucket list means it really is near the end

23. Scheduling a night class on Wednesday and not being able to go to chapter

24. Wondering what internships and jobs you will apply for the summer time

25. Wondering where in the world you'll end up-I'll take any paid internship or job

26. Opening the sock drawer realizing you need to do laundry

27. Debating whether or not to pay to do your laundry

28. The thought of getting everyone's Christmas presents

29. Wanting to be home but also knowing you'll miss university when home for the holidays

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
