30 Things We Don't Think To Thank Our Roommates For

Let's face it, we don't really realize how much we have to thank them for until we get a weird roommate.

30 Things We Don't Think To Thank Our Roommates For

We’ve all had our fair share of bad roommate situations. It’s life, and in college, these things are bound to happen. Roommates that worship cults, roommates that leave passive aggressive notes everywhere, roommates that try to track your every move, and even just roommates that you just don’t live well with. After a less than desirable roommate situation, it’s really important to recognize, appreciate, and hold onto good roommates. Here are 30 things that you should thank those great roommates for

1. Thank you for always sharing ice cream with me.

2. Thank you for always being so funny, and making me laugh every single day.

3. Thank you for being more terrified of our ghost than I am. I’m never less scared than anyone else… except for you.

4. Thank you for never calling me “roomie”. I may have had to drop kick you.

5. Thank you for having such funny sayings that I shamelessly stole and implemented into my own daily vocabulary.

6. Thank you for always helping me plan out my outfits, and literally abandoning your homework to help me decide if boots or converse were more appropriate.

7.Thank you for lighting the candles for me because I’m scared of lighters (If my RA is reading this - please don’t take away our candles)

8. Thanks for sharing a sense of humor with me.

9. Thank you for having a weird obsession with fantastic movies, and insisting on making me watch all of them.

10. Thank you for taking out the garbage all of the time because I never ever remember.

11. Thank you for tolerating my habit of not doing dishes for a while.

12. Thank you for always letting me eat the bananas you buy.

13. Thank you for always being so understanding.

14. Thank you for introducing me to blender-made banana ice cream.

15. Thank you for not caring when my side is a disaster.

16. Thank you for letting me borrow your clothes when I can’t find anything that goes with my outfit.

17. Thank you for always being down to go to the cafe with me.

18. Thank you for not being a snorer.

19. Thank you for sharing a dislike for a lot of the people I have a disliking for.

20. Thank you for not ever being annoying.

21. Thank you for not being weird about awkward situations we find ourselves in.

22. Thank you for being so relaxed about everything, and being so easy-going.

23. Thank you for introducing me to your friends (and letting me tag along) in the beginning of the year when I knew no one.

24. Thank you for never yelling at me, even when I’m being really annoying.

25. Thank you for not judging me when I eat Oreos at 2 am, with milk in a wine glass.

26. Thank you for listening to me complain about my tough classes every single day.

27. Thank you helping me out whenever I needed anything.

28. Thank you for the fact that we get along so great to the point where we have literally never had even a resemblance of a fight.

29. Thank you for being you, and for always being so great.

And lastly, thank you for doing random roommate, and also shout out to the housing department for throwing two seemingly-opposite, lost, lonely transfers together. Living with you has honestly changed my life, Morgan. It’s so cheesy, but it really has. I love you!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
