Ah childhood. The blissful period before unicorns turned to boring old horses, candy turned to calorie counters, and life yanked off your blinders. Remember those days where your biggest concern was whether or not your friendship bracelets matched? Yeah dude, me too. Its hard to pinpoint exactly when life took a turn for the serious, but of course a growing person has no fixed transition. There are however, whispers on the wind, and by whispers I mean loud shouting.
Buckle up kids.
1. You've become addicted to coffee out of sheer necessity.
Sometimes the only way to survive an all nighter or make it through an 8 am class is to shove caffeine into your body and pray. And then when you realize you need to stop, you can't.
2. You can do your civic duty and vote! Release the eagles and start the fireworks. Or, cry a lot because I mean look at this election.
3. Supercalifragilisticexistentialcrisis.
Even though the sound of it is something quite atrocious. Who are you? What is the meaning of life? Are aliens a thing? All that kinda stuff seems more prominent. Related to this, you're supposed to know what to do with your life. What's your major? What's your career goal? What? Who? Where? Why? When?
4. Making your own doctor appointments.
And wrangling with the insurance company on the phone.
And going to the dentist.
And getting your meds.
Such responsibility.
5. You start cooking (microwaving) your own meals.
6. You have to wake yourself up unless you ask your mom to call you every morning.
7. You face a moral struggle between treat yo self and treat yo wallet.
8. You have to do your own laundry.
9. You may even have to clean the bathroom or others rooms.

11. Going to ifd at night brings you unbridled joy.
12. You stop stereotyping people (if you're educated).
13. You no longer have time to inhale novels like potato chips. Now they are a commodity.
14. Its "inappropriate" for someone your age to go trick or treating and dress up for Halloween.
15. Buying gifts for people without your parents' money is a struggle.
16. You pay your own bills and fill out tax forms.
17. You do your own bed. (Sometimes.)
18. You either budget or go bankrupt. Or go fund me.
19. You have to take care of yourself when you're sick. Sad times.
20. You have a job. Any job. Any job will do.
21. Your grocery list contains more than sugary cereal and cake. I mean. Maybe.
22. Socks for Christmas actually please you.
23. If its free, you'll take it.
24. Driving yourself places! Curse words and shouting emanate from your own foul mouth now.
25. The popular cartoons of your childhood unite a generation.
26. Online shopping. Must. Resist.
27. Boys and or girls no longer have cooties.
28. You shave, makeup, all that personal hygiene beautification stuff.
29. You don't have all day to spend beating video games (but you do it anyway.)
