Lately, I've noticed a lot of people rolling their eyes and dissing girls that they describe as "girly-girls." You know, the ones that love pink, makeup and everything sparkly. As a self proclaimed "girly-girl," these are the things that I want you to know:

1. Calling me a girly-girl is not an insult.

I like wearing makeup. I like pink. Yes, this makes me a girly-girl. This doesn't make me some kind of lesser form of being.

2. I know secret uses for household products you've never thought of.

via GIPHY
I can name ten different beauty uses for coconut oil off the top of my head. Can you?

3. I can put together an adorable outfit in my sleep.

via GIPHY
In fact, I often do. I know my closet like the back of my hand and know exactly what looks good on my body.

4. I'm not afraid to get excited over the little things.

via GIPHY
Pink frosted cupcakes? A perfect lilac pedicure? A small animal with a jacket on? The simple pleasures make me happy.

5. I can talk about any given subject for hours.

via GIPHY
And I can probably relate whatever you're talking about to an episode of KUWTK.

6. I make the most of what I have.

via GIPHY
I may not have enough room for storage, but I'll make room because I'm determined. I will get every last drop out of my expensive foundation with a Q-Tip. I can probably even fix your over-bleached hair. Bring. It. On.

7. I know the importance of a good hair cut.

via GIPHY
Good hair makes someone feel ultra confident, and who doesn't want to feel good about themselves?

8. I know how to fix a problem.

via GIPHY
Bad hair day? I can fix that.

9. I know the importance of female friendships.

It started with a compliment on her makeup. Now we're inseparable.

10. I'm not afraid to put myself out there.

via GIPHY
Wearing a Pinterest-worthy outfit to class will definitely turn some heads, and I am totally OK with that.

11. I can dream big.

via GIPHY
Just because I sleep in a matching two piece set from Victoria's Secret doesn't mean that I don't dream about ruling my empire in my sleep.

12. I know the importance of a good lipstick...

I found my signature color, and I own it.

13. And a good fragrance.

via GIPHY
It keeps them thinking about you hours after you leave.

14. I can do just as much in heels as I can in sneakers.

via GIPHY
Can you?

15. Being a girly girl doesn't mean I don't have common sense.

via GIPHY

Most of the time.

16. I look cute at the gym because it's my pre-workout.

I make an effort to buy cute work out clothes. I still have my makeup on. It makes me feel confident. To each their own.

17. I can plan a killer sleepover.

via GIPHY
Makeovers. Rom-Com. Snacks. Wine.

18. I can help you feel better about yourself.

via GIPHY

One of my favorite things to do is to give beauty tips or do makeup for my friends on big events. I like making others feel as beautiful as they should.

19. I can be a girly girl and also like sports.

via GIPHY
Yep. I'm an athlete. My sneakers are pink. Deal with it.

20. I'm always down to have a good venting session.

via GIPHY
Who is being mean to you and can a caramel macchiato fix it?

21. I'm fierce as hell.

via GIPHY
I can wear five-inch stilettos and kick your a**.

22. I know my self-worth.

via GIPHY
I'm a princess. Duh.

23. I know a pair of shoes can change my life.

via GIPHY
Dorothy and Cinderella are just two examples.

24. I am stronger than you think.

I've braved through cuts from shaving, hot wax being used to rip hair out of my body, and bloody blisters from my shoes. I am strong.

25. I know how to perfectly craft an Instagram post.

26. I can craft an amazing present for you.

27. I can geniusly attack a sale.

It's basically like stalking my prey and attacking with coupons and rewards points.

28. I know what it's like to be misunderstood.

Nope, just because I am a girly-girl does not mean I get everything handed to me. Nice try though.

29. I'm not a mean girl.

Being a girly-girl doesn't mean that I'm not a nice person. I'm totally a nice person.

30. I don't deserve to be judged based on what you classify me as.

Girly-girl or not, I shouldn't have certain expectations placed on me because of the way I look or dress or the things I like. I promise not to judge you either. Pinkie promise.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
