Everyone who has been through college knows what a life changing experience it is. You don't come out of it the same way you went in. You find yourself. You find the meaning of life.
So while I am here, I have decided to take this adventure whole heartedly by giving it all I got.
Here's three simple and easy ways of how i'm doing it:
1. Don't be afraid.
This is the hardest one to get through. Coming into college, I can guarantee that everyone is afraid of one thing. There's big ones like socializing and schoolwork, and then there's little ones like not knowing where anything is or having to use a community shower for the first time (horrific). That's the thing about growing up. If you're too afraid to do anything, then you might as well just live with your parents the rest of your life. Don't be afraid to be the one to speak up in a political debate. Don't be afraid to sit down at a table of people you've never met before. Don't be afraid to make a fool of yourself. The only thing you do by not facing your fears is holding yourself back. People notice fearlessness. We naturally gravitate towards it because it makes us feel empowered and safe; and there is no better feeling than instilling confidence in others.
2. Be you.
Here's a shocker: Be yourself. Literally. It is not that hard. Today's young adults strive for acceptance from others, and if that means becoming something your not, we're all over it. But how is that mentally healthy? To succumb to the wants and needs of others around you, and not do what YOU desire? It is painful to think about. The people who you surround yourself with should be there because YOU want them to, not because you think they are the "cool". The fact that this type of ideology still exists beyond middle school confuses the hell out of me. When you are true to yourself and what you believe, it makes life so much easier. It makes reaching those goals that you've always aspired to have so much more attainable. Besides, there is only one you in the universe, so why be someone else?
3. Love fully and firmly.
Tell people that you care about that you care about them. Don't be afraid to tell someone that you are thankful that they are your bffl, or that their words of encouragement really helped you through something. Compliment people on not just physical attributes, but what great things they contribute to his world. Be kind. Kindness is contagious. Spread to everyone. You never know when the day will come that the person you talk to everyday, isn't there. Spend the time that God has given you to lift others up instead of bringing them down.
There is nothing greater than the feeling of relief I get when I lay in bed at night, and know that I lived the day to it's fullest extent. That's how you should feel every day of your life. Be happy, love each other, and thank the Lord above that he has gifted you with this precious time on Earth.
Vivi la vita al massimo
